About me and my therapy practice

I am here to welcome you and your experiences with warmth and empathy. Together, we can explore where your issues stem from and work to heal the parts of you that feel lost or unheard. During your sessions, we will address the deeper feelings that arise and find a way to move forward that resonates with your needs.

I believe in a person-centred approach that values you. My goal is to help you to understand your needs and to find a path for growth that feels authentic and empowering.

When I accessed counselling I found it daunting and overwhelming, so I know it takes time to feel ready. Taking the first step to look online is a great accomplishment, next you can reach out for a free consultation to see how we both feel about working together. When you are ready, I am here.

Practice description

I integrate Person-Centred Counselling, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Internal Family Systems Therapy. This means that every session is tailored specifically to you and your needs.

Person-Centred Counselling is non-directive, meaning I will follow your lead and use my sensed feeling to reflect your deeper emotions. You will connect with your authentic self and release internalised beliefs as we find a path forward that resonates with who you truly are.

CBT is more directive and involves tasks and worksheets that challenge your thinking patterns. While person-centred counselling follows your emotions, CBT follows your thoughts. We will work collaboratively to unpack your experiences and develop new ways of being.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy involves looking at all the parts that make up who you are and how you experience the world. Rather than practicing a full IFS approach, I draw on the way it helps us to work with your inner parts; your internal family. We can visit these parts from a place grounded in peace and explore them. We will welcome each part, hear what they need from you and why they were created. For example, we may find you have an anxious part that is protecting you from feeling unsafe. When you visit this part and listen to it with compassion, you can find a better place for it and your anxiety will soften. This approach will work for all of your parts that we discover.

My first session

Before you commit to counselling with me, we will have a video-call, free of charge, to see how we both feel about working together. This will last around 15-20 minutes and provides a chance for you to explain a little more about what is going on for you. I will then explain how I could help and answer any questions you may have before starting counselling with me. Should we feel we are not a good fit for working together, I can refer you on to someone more appropriate.
