About me and my therapy practice
I work with people 16 years of age and up.
I have lived experience of depression, anxiety, occupational burnout and complex trauma, and I will bring this knowledge to my work with you. I know what it’s like to feel unable to face the day due to crippling depression, to have flashbacks to distressing memories, or feel unsafe and anxious to the point of hardly being able to leave the house.
I will walk alongside you as we explore what has led you to this point, as together we find a way through your current challenges. I will always provide a non-judgmental, compassionate and supportive space to which you can bring whatever is troubling you.
Practice description
Expect more than just a listening ear in our sessions. Anticipate insight, compassion, empathy and gentle nudges outside your comfort zone.
I work as an integrative therapist, which means I can draw on a variety of approaches depending on your specific needs and preferences. This can range from exploring the impact of your past on the present day (psychodynamic therapy) to imparting practical strategies (for example from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy - CBT - or Dialectical Behaviour Therapy - DBT - or Acceptance and Commitment Therapy - ACT) or using Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy.
The path to healing often isn’t straightforward, but if you’re willing to embrace the unknown, we’ll build a relationship, so you won’t have to do it alone. You’re brave for being here. Let’s take the next steps together.
My first session
I know it can feel daunting to reach out to a new therapist, so I offer a free 15 minute clarity call where we can have an initial chat. This enables us to discuss the reasons you are thinking of coming for counselling and figure out whether I am the right person for you.
The first paid session will be an assessment where I ask a range of questions about your history, and physical and mental health.
