About me and my therapy practice

I am a warm, compassionate Counsellor and Psychotherapist offering you a confidential and safe place.  My approach is 'integrative', tailor-made to your personal unique needs and essentially Person-Centred which means tthat you are the most important person in the room.  I am meeting the BACP's high standards as a competent, ethical, empathic independent practitioner.    No issue is too small or too big.  My personal experience and my work with clients, adults and children, enable me to help you understand and navigate life's challenges, whether they come from work, relationships, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, feeling isolated, money struggles, anger or any other issue.  Active listening with no judgment or advice from me allow you to explore your experiences and feelings.  Discovering your strengths will help you find your own solutions. The aim is to grow, develop, and overcome the difficulties of the past by believing in yourself, in your value and to express your own truth.

Practice description

Sessions take place on the telephone or online - Skype or Zoom or equivalent. They last 50 minutes.  I offer a confidential space to explore what is happening in the moment and what is causing stress, anxiety, insecurities.  I work collaboratively with my clients. Each client is unique, my approach is the opposite of 'one size fits all'.   Depending on the mood, what issue or question you are raising, I might use creative tools like drawing, or looking at pictures to uncover deep-seated feelings, or help you express ideas and thoughts that might be hard to express through words alone.

My first session

The first session is very important.  It gives us an opportunity to explore working together, and if potentially we would be a good 'fit'.  I will ask you what brings you to therapy, what are the challenges that you are facing, and if you have any questions about therapy.  If we decide to work together, I will send you a 'contract' outlining our shared agreement on the practical aspects of the counselling - e.g. day and time of the sessions - and  the principles guiding my practice - that I adhere to the BACP ethical framework.
