About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I'm Jade and a warm welcome to Evolve Counselling Services.
Are you feeling stressed? Overwhelmed? Unable to cope with life's ups and downs?
Maybe you have experienced an unexpected life event or loss of a loved one and are struggling to navigate your emotions during this time?
I want to assure you that each emotion is accepted and valid and whilst working together and my main focus is empowering you to navigate these challenges and feel heard and suppported.
As an integrative counsellor, I use different therapeutic modalities:
- Person-Centred Therapy
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
- Pyschodynamic Therapy
- Gestalt Therapy Theory
Each one of these theories can make sense of your experiences and can be even more useful when implemented together to help explore different parts of ourselvesand emotions that ultimatley make us human. Exploring your past, present and future.
For example, as a child did you struggle with expressing your needs and now as an adult you find it difficult to assert confidence or your desires in either work and relationships? We can work on these difficulties together, building your confidence and identifying what might support you going forward.
I have experience working with a diverse range of clients and problems causing mental distress, including Anxiety, Depression, OCD, Personality Disorders, Relationship difficulties, Parenting, Trauma, Bereavement, Work related stress and Self-esteem issues.
Understanding that every person’s journey is unique, I value building a strong therapeutic relationship and believe in empowering my clients by helping them explore their thoughts and feelings, gaining insight into their behaviours, and develop coping strategies to help manage their challenges.
If you would like to discuss this further, feel free to message me to book a free 15 minute consultation.
Practice description
I have a deep commitment to providing a safe and supportive space, I work collaboratively with clients to navigate life's challenges and enhance their emotional well-being.
If the client feels comfortable and would like to, we can work together creatively using resources such as drawing, painting, clay, shells and other objects that the client may find useful.
My first session
Our first session is an important opportunity to establish a foundation for our work together.
- We’ll start with some introductions. I’ll share a bit about my background and approach, and I encourage you to share your name and any preferred pronouns.
Understanding Your Needs
- I’ll ask you what brought you to counselling and what you hope to achieve. This is your opportunity to express your concerns, goals, and any specific issues you're facing. I may ask questions to gain a clearer understanding of your situation, including your background, current stressors, and any previous experiences with counselling.
Assessment
- I may use some assessment tools or questionnaires to better understand your mental health, coping strategies, and overall well-being. We may explore your history, including significant life events, relationships, and any mental health concerns.
Setting Goals
- Together, we’ll begin to identify your goals for counselling. This may involve discussing what the outcome of our sessions looks like for you and how we can work towards those aims.
I’ll explain how the counselling process typically works, including the structure of sessions, frequency, and what methods or techniques we might use.
Questions and Concerns
- You’ll have the opportunity to ask any questions or voice any concerns you might have about our work together.
Reflection
- After our session, take some time to reflect on your feelings about the experience. It’s important that you feel comfortable and safe as we begin this journey together.
Remember, the first session is just the beginning. It’s normal to feel a range of emotions, and it’s perfectly okay to take your time to open up. My goal is to create a supportive and non-judgmental environment where you can feel safe to explore your thoughts and feelings.
