About me and my therapy practice
About me
I am a trained Pluralistic Therapist (MBACP) with an extensive background in migrant justice organising. I have experience providing face-to-face and remote counselling to adults, as well as short-term telephone counselling for people seeking asylum and human rights protections in Scotland.
Outside of this I deliver community engagement projects and facilitate community care sessions for racialised communities and activists experiencing burnout and vicarious trauma. I also participate in the 'Therapists for Liberation' peer support network in Glasgow that I established in 2024.
About my approach
Audre Lorde’s statement that “we don’t live single-issue lives” is no clearer than when in the therapy room. As such, I aim to recognise my clients world as a complex web of social, cultural and economic factors in which problems in living can often arise and be further exacerbated by varying intersecting inequalities. I also hold in mind that pain may be generational historical or relational.
My current therapeutic praxis is situated within a broader framework of anti-oppressive activism and guided by principles of Black feminism, healing justice and liberation psychology. A collaborative therapeutic relationship is at the heart of my approach, and I endeavour to see my clients as co-pilots who bring with them rich sources of knowledge, cultural and spiritual resources, as well as experience.
As a pluralist I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach so I pull from various pools of knowledge and creative practices, and adapt them to what my client needs at that moment in time.
My first session
I offer a free 20 minute consultation to assess whether we are a good fit for one another. In this session, I will ask you some questions to get a better sense of your counselling needs and you will also have an opportunity to ask me any questions about myself and my practice.
