About me and my therapy practice
My approach is warm, thoughtful and down-to-earth. Whatever is going on for you, I offer you a safe space where you can feel heard and accepted. I am here to listen to the experiences which have led you to see me and I do this with compassion, empathy and acceptance.
I am an experienced counsellor and provide one to one sessions for adults, both in person and online.
The focus of my work has been to support those struggling with identity crises, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties and feelings of shame and anger. I am committed to inclusive practice and have extensive experience working with individuals who have experienced marginalisation. I feel strongly about improving access to counselling for neurodiverse clients and do my best to facilitate a space tailored to the individual needs of my clients.
Life can throw so many different challenges at us. We live in a world that is constantly changing and can feel scary at times. Often we spend more time at work than with our loved ones. We're facing a Cost of Living Crisis and a Climate Breakdown. If you're feeling worried, disconnected or find yourself struggling then I am here to tell you that this is totally normal!
Practice description
As an integrative counsellor I draw upon a variety of counselling models to suit the uniqueness of your circumstances.
I work person-centred and attachment focused in which I acknowledge the potential impact of early relationships and how these can impact us in adulthood. I have special interest in the Neurobiology of human relationships and how new neural pathways can grow in therapy through new ways of relating and by the power of feeling completely accepted by another human being.
I work relational: this means that I focus on building a genuine and trusting relationship in which we can get closer to who you are rather than what you may feel is “wrong” with you.
My first session
I appreciate that the first session may feel intimidating to you but rest assured that whatever you bring will be met by warmth and understanding.
The first session gives both of us the opportunity to see if we are a good match. It will be 50 minutes long with an initial assessment.
There will be time for you to ask me any questions about how I practice and what to expect from working with me.
