About me and my therapy practice
If you’re feeling isolated, anxious, angry, sad or overwhelmed then counselling can give you a place to unmask, unburden and gain some new perspectives.
The way I work is collaborative and is led by you, so we’ll talk about what helps you and what doesn’t, what you need from therapy, your values and your goals.
My training is integrative, meaning that I can offer insight from many different theories and approaches depending on what you need and what suits you best.
I primarily use a person-centred approach, offering a warm, non-judgemental, authentic relationship in which you can explore what you’re struggling with. I find that neurodivergent people in particular tend to appreciate the more egalitarian nature of this approach, as do many others who have experienced the impact of social inequalities in their lives.
Practice description
I have experience in working with young people and with neurodiversity, physical disability, polyamory, and GSRD (gender, sexual and relationship diversity).
I’ve always lived and worked in diverse, multicultural communities and have a long history of involvement in campaigns for equality and environmental and social justice. I currently volunteer doing drug harm reduction work at UK festivals.
I’m working towards accreditation with Pink Therapy, and am also undertaking further training in working safely with trauma.
I offer sessions in Leeds (LS8 4HA) and online. My fee is £60 per 50-minute session, and sessions are usually weekly in the same time slot each week. I start and end sessions on time and rarely cancel – I see my reliability as part of the therapeutic relationship I offer.
I’m a member of the BACP and abide by their ethical framework.
Ultimately the best way to choose a counsellor is probably to meet with a few and then trust your gut feelings about who you want to see, so please email me if you’d like to arrange a free initial consultation call online.
Please also contact me if you’d like to discuss any particular access needs, I’m keen to accommodate you if I possibly can!
My first session
Therapy is different for everyone, but some of the things we might do include:
• observing patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving
• thinking about where those patterns might have come from
• exploring what is serving you in your life and what isn’t
• looking at what’s in your power to change and how to make change happen
• identifying what you need and working out how to get your needs met
