About me and my therapy practice
Welcome.
My name is Paulette and I’m a BACP registered Psychotherapeutic Counsellor. I suspect that you’ve had to look through a number of profiles before you reached mine, so thank you for persevering. My approach focuses on an integrative style of counselling and therapy. My work with you will be a partnership in that you will have a voice in the direction of your therapy and that this is done by working within the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy Ethical Framework. I also have over twenty years of experience of working with people from diverse and complex backgrounds.
Integrative therapy
Integrative therapy can meet the needs of the individual through a holistic approach to therapy. This involves combining ideas and techniques from different therapeutic schools such as person centred, psychodynamic and gestalt therapy. However, this is all dependent on what your needs may be. How this works in practice is that it enables me to offer a more flexible and inclusive approach to treatment than those practitioners who practise one singular form.
The holistic approach aspires to consider your mental, physical, and emotional health needs in a unified way. This is done by working together to understand the sources of your anxiety, unhappiness, physical discomfort, or unhealthy behaviour patterns.
Fees
Once you’ve had your free 20-minute initial consultation, we can arrange to have your initial assessment which will last for 50 minutes at a cost of £50. Thereafter your sessions will continue to be £50 for 50 minutes payable in advance of your session. Specialist counselling will be subject to a cost of £60 upwards.
In person sessions will be held in a therapy room in central Bristol. Whilst outdoor therapy is convened in local nature reserves or local parks. My email address is paulette.mindfulbeing@gmail.com
I look forward to hearing from you but until then, please take care.
Practice description
I have a friendly, warm and thoughtful style of working and as a woman of colour, I am able to consider cultures other than my own. I also work in a way that looks at how the different identities you might hold can shape the way in which life events can impact you.
My first session
Your first appointment will involve an initial assessment which lasts for approximately 50 minutes. We'll discuss your therapeutic goals and what you want to achieve from therapy and you will have an opportunity to ask any questions you may have about counselling and psychotherapy.
Together we'll go through a contract agreement that will cover confidentiality, payment, cancellation policy and agree a time and day to book your next session.
Finding the right therapist can make a difference to how you view your therapy. If you decide after our consultation that I am not the right therapist for you then you'll under no obligation to continue.
