About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I’m Michelle.
I am a post-graduate level trained and fully qualified BACP counsellor and psychotherapist working with adults and young people over the age of 16. I am passionate about helping people improve their lives and make long lasting change. Whether you are new to therapy or an experienced client, finding right therapist can feel daunting. I am here to make the process easier.
I work as an integrative therapist; this means I draw on different theories and skills, and apply those that are best suited to you. I can support you with issues ranging from anxiety, depression and low self-esteem to relationship, work and family difficulties. Alongside therapeutic interventions, I also utilise coaching skills to help you reach your goals. This means that our sessions will not only focus on present difficulties and the impact of past experiences, but will also look towards the future to help you achieve meaningful change.
I specialise in helping people who are experiencing difficulties in their relationships - whether it's with your partner, your children, your career or yourself, I will help you make sense of your feelings and find a way forward that feels right for you.
Practice description
Why work with me?
Like many therapists, I am non-judgemental, empathic and a good listener. I also take a down-to-earth, friendly and warm approach to therapy and am skilled at putting people at ease. I use humour and gentle challenge, where appropriate, to ensure you get the most out of your sessions and explore whatever you choose to bring to therapy in a way that feels right for you. I do not judge or give advice but help you draw on your inner resources so that you gain a greater insight into the difficulties you are experiencing.
My aim is to help you develop the skills to cope so that you are better able to understand yourself and live a fulfilled life. Therapy is a collaborative process so I work at your pace in a supportive, safe and compassionate environment where you are free to be yourself.
Prior to training as a therapist, I had a long career in government communications where I led campaigns to help people make meaningful changes to their lives. I can therefore draw on a range of skills and experience to help you achieve the changes you want.
