About me and my therapy practice

Hello! I'm Danny and I am a person-centred counsellor offering a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space where you can explore your feelings, thoughts, and experiences at your own pace. I work collaboratively, helping you navigate challenges such as anxiety, low mood, or low self-esteem while respecting your unique journey and values.

Rather than providing solutions or advice, I believe in empowering you to uncover your own answers. I aim to support you in developing a greater self-awareness, identifying patterns in your thoughts and behaviours, and building confidence in making positive changes in your life.

My approach is tailored to your individual needs. Sessions are led by what feels most important to you, whether that's working through a specific issue, gaining insight into your emotions, or exploring personal growth. Above all, I provide a space where you feel heard, understood, and valued.

Practice description

At McGill Counselling, I offer a range of settings and services to suit your individual needs and preferences. My practice is designed to be accessible, flexible, and welcoming, ensuring that you feel comfortable and supported throughout your counselling journey.

I provide in-person therapy in a calming, private environment where you can feel at ease to share your thoughts. For clients seeking convenience and flexibility, I also offer online counselling, enabling you to access support from the comfort of your own home or another private space. Additionally, I provide outdoor therapy, which integrates the benefits of being in nature with the therapeutic process. This option can be particularly helpful if you find a natural setting more conducive to reflection and emotional release.

Sessions are 50–55 minutes and can be booked on a short-term or long-term basis, depending on your goals. Clients can expect a professional yet approachable experience, where the focus is on tailoring support to your specific circumstances.

My first session

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and establish the foundation for our work together. It’s a chance for you to share what brings you to counselling and what you hope to gain from the process.

I offer a free 20-minute introductory call before your first session. This call allows us to have a brief conversation about your needs and expectations, giving you the chance to ask any questions about my approach, the counselling process, or the different formats I offer, including in-person, online, and outdoor therapy. This is a no-obligation call designed to help you decide if counselling with me feels like the right fit.

In your first full session, we’ll explore your concerns in more depth. I’ll ask gentle, open-ended questions to better understand your goals and challenges, but there’s no pressure to share anything you’re not ready to discuss. You’ll lead the conversation, and we’ll move at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

We’ll also discuss practical details such as session timing, frequency, and preferred format. This first session is charged at my standard rate and lasts 50–55 minutes. No formal assessments or paperwork are required before this session, as I aim to keep the process relaxed and client-focused.

If you’re feeling unsure about starting therapy, the introductory call is a great way to get a feel for how I work and decide whether this next step feels right for you.
