About me and my therapy practice
I’m a person-centred counsellor. My role is to provide a safe, warm place for you to explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences. I'll be there alongside you while you do so, but you set the agenda: you're in control.
I became a counsellor after a career in business. My job was running advertising agencies, but I seemed to spend most of my time talking to people. I saw all the time how talking can help people feel better, and I was intrigued.
Practice description
I'm not the kind of counsellor that tells people how to live their lives. I’ll never judge you, and I’ll never disempower you. I’ll never tell you how you should be living your life, or what goals you should aim for: all that is for you to decide.
I’ll be there for as long as you need me, and will help you on your journey towards greater self-awareness and making whatever changes you want to make in your life.
My first session
We could start by having a talk, either on the phone or online. This should take no more than fifteen minutes of your time, and there’s no charge: fill in the panel on the left, hit 'Send message' and we can get started.
As we talk I’ll ask you some questions about your situation, and why you’re looking for counselling. You can ask me whatever you like: I’ll try to give you an idea of the way I work and what it might mean for you.
After that and if you decide to go ahead, we meet for our first paid session: ideally this is face-to-face but if you prefer to do it online or on the phone, that’s fine too. In our first session we spend some time talking about our commitments to each other: both of us will sign a written contract summarising our agreement. Then we start the work proper.
What I can help with
Addictions, Anger management, Anxiety, Bereavement, Cancer, Cultural issues, Depression, Disability, Health related issues, Identity issues, Infertility, LGBTQ+ counselling, Loss, Obsessions, OCD, Phobias, Redundancy, Self esteem, Self-harm, Sexuality, Stress, Substance Dependency, Work related issues
