About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I’m Suman from Your Safe Space Counselling. As a qualified integrative psychotherapist, I work with issues relating to stress, anxiety, bereavement, depression, guilt, shame, abandonment, sexual abuse, relationship/parental challenges, grief, infant loss, self-worth, and boundaries. I work currently with adults aged 18+ and can offer therapy via phone, online, or in person from a dedicated therapy room in Odiham, Hampshire.
My values of respect, integrity, and trustworthiness are reflected in my humanistic philosophy. I strive to create an empowering and supportive therapeutic environment, helping clients develop a deeper understanding of themselves and their relationships.
I welcome clients from all walks of life and provide both short-term and long-term therapy options.
As a person of Indian origin, I can offer culturally sensitive therapy informed by first-hand experience, ensuring a holistic approach to addressing cultural issues in therapy.
Besides my private practice, I work as a Service Manager at a Counselling Agency in Hampshire. Additionally, I volunteer with UK’s leading bereavement charity, Cruse, and with Hart Voluntary Action as a counsellor.
Practice description
Integrative therapy is a holistic approach that combines different therapeutic methods to meet each person’s uniqueness. This enables me to draw on various modalities like person-centred, and psychodynamic alongside creative interventions to work in the best way possible for you as a client.
My approach to counselling is of compassion, empathy, and acceptance by providing you with a safe, non-judgmental space that allows clients to be heard. I strongly believe that you are the expert in your life, hence refrain from offering advice instead my warm calm nature supports you to navigate through your thoughts in a gentle challenging way.
I offer short-term counselling or open-ended so you can work at a pace and depth that suits your goals. This can be discussed in our initial 15-20minute chat which I offer at no cost. As sessions progress, I offer regular reviews on how therapy is progressing for you and facilitate any adjustments if needed.
My first session
I offer a no-cost 15-minute telephone consultation. This is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and for you to tell me what brings you to counselling. It will be a space for you to ask any questions you may have about me or the counselling process.
You can book an initial chat by leaving me a voice message at 07768678694 or drop me an email at suman@yoursafespacecounselling.co.uk. I aim to reply to enquiries within 24 hours during workdays.
If after our initial chat, we feel like we might be a good fit and you wish to proceed, we can agree a time for sessions and consider the terms of our agreement to work together. Sessions thereafter are 50 minutes long and normally take place weekly.
