About me and my therapy practice
Thank you for taking the time to look at my profile and to see if I might be a suitable partner with whom to begin or continue your counselling journey.
And whilst our work together will be exclusively about you, it feels right that I begin by introducing myself and explaining how I have come to be working as a qualified psychotherapist / counsellor.
I have enjoyed a very varied and interesting working life. I have had money and I have been very broke. I have travelled extensively. I have experienced all sorts of mental and physical challenges and I have mixed with all manner of people from different cultural backgrounds, ethics and creeds.
These experiences have left me with a diverse set of ‘life-skills’ any one of which might be of value to someone in need of a compassionate, empathic ear and a ‘worldly’, non-judgmental response.
I have also had a number of close friends who have worked in mental health and I have seen at close hand the challenges they have faced - as well as hearing countless stories of clients being helped in all sorts of ways.
And while I initially kicked against any suggestions that I might benefit from personal therapy, it was a pre-requisite of my training - and guess what?
It was amazing and I now strongly believe that everyone should at some point in their lives have an opportunity to experience personal therapy - irrespective of whether or not they have a particular issue they want to work through.
Practice description
As a Humanistic Integrative counsellor I work primarily as a Person Centred therapist but I also draw, where appropriate, on the theories of TA and Gestalt.
I am committed to providing a safe and supportive environment where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences.
Whether you're facing challenges with anxiety, depression, relationships, personal growth, or one of any number of other mental health issues, we will work together to help you navigate your way towards healing and self-discovery.
Whilst every therapeutic relationship is unique, my approach will always be compassionate, collaborative, and tailored to meet your needs.
Together, we will work towards understanding and overcoming the obstacles that stand in your way, empowering you to discover, and reach, your full potential, and to lead a more fulfilling and balanced life.
It would be a privilege to work with you and, should you choose to work with me, I very much look forward to having the opportunity to go on this wonderful journey with you.
My first session
I offer a free 30 minute assessment session either on-line or on the telephone. If you decide to start therapy with me the normal sessions will last 50 minutes.
During the first 'proper' session I will be wanting to find out more about you, your current situation, a bit about your past and your hopes for the future. The aim of this session is for us to decide if I am the 'right person to provide you with the best support you need, and for you to get a 'feel' for how I work.
