About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I'm Georgia. I am a registered psychotherapeutic counsellor and I am currently in the advanced stages of a Professional Doctorate in Existential Psychotherapy and Counselling. I have over 300 hours' experience of working with a diverse range of clients within the NHS and other organisations. Before training to become a therapist, I was a community mental health recovery worker for people with diagnoses of schizophrenia, psychosis and personality disorders.

Therapy offers a profoundly unique space - one that is entirely dedicated to your self-exploration. In our sessions, it is my role to be by your side every step of the way: whether it's joining you on a search for better understanding, guiding you towards a deeper connection with your emotions, or simply holding your pain.

I provide a compassionate, safe space where you can share your experiences without shame or fear of judgement. You may be struggling with anxiety, depression, loss or trauma. You may be at a crossroads in your life and have no idea which way to turn. You may be confused about who you are - to yourself or to others. Whatever the issue, I believe that our relationship can be used to explore difficult thoughts and feelings and help deepen your understanding of yourself and the world.

Practice description

I draw from existential and psychodynamic practice, and work in a relational way. An existential-phenomenological approach focuses on what it means for you to be alive. It involves contemplating issues such as freedom, choice, purpose and responsibility. I also use psychodynamic practice to help you explore past experiences or traumas that are part of your internal world in the present. Working in a relational way means that I view our therapeutic relationship as a mirror of your position and relations in the world. Reflection on what feelings, patterns or shifts in how we work together mean for you is a core aspect of relational practice.

My first session

I offer a discounted rate of £35.00 for our first exploratory session. This first exploratory session is an opportunity to talk about things such as your reasons for seeking therapy, your hopes for therapy, my therapeutic approach and how we might work together. Of course, it is also an opportunity for you to ask me any questions you might have.
