About me and my therapy practice
Making initial contact with a counsellor or psychotherapist can be difficult, and many people feel anxious in doing so (speaking from experience) . My aim is to make this process as supportive as possible for you; I offer a professional counselling service which is warm, empathic, non-judgemental, and flexible to your needs. Sometimes, people feel able to talk about their difficulties with a close friend or relative, but often these problems can feel too difficult, or too personal to discuss within a conventional relationship. This is where the help of an objective, trained professional can guide you through your issues: Me!
My focus is on identifying the underlying triggers for emotional distress, including anxiety, anger, and feelings of shame or guilt, and I employ a range of techniques to address these issues effectively. I work with people experiencing a wide range of difficulties from many different backgrounds, where everyone’s story for coming to therapy is different
Practice description
I offer both long-term and short-term individual therapy, with the length of therapy generally being something we would discuss in our first session. In the case of longer-term therapy, we would frequently review progress as the therapy continues to consider what work remains and when it might be appropriate to conclude.
My first session
The initial session, is slightly different from subsequent sessions because it involves some degree of assessment. It is a time for us to discuss your current difficulties and try to build a picture of what has brought you to therapy, during this session I will ask a range of questions to assess if therapy is currently the best option for you and how we might proceed should you feel that we are a good fit.
