About me and my therapy practice
Are you feeling overwhelmed, stuck or low?
Perhaps you want to address a difficult relationship you’re currently experiencing, or have in the past.
Are you noticing your current reactions or defences, and want to better understand these behaviours to help you move forward?
Or maybe you want to understand yourself better, explore who you are and the relationships you foster in life.
Whatever brings you here, I appreciate that entering therapy can be daunting. I will meet you with respect, care, and authenticity, creating a safe, judgement-free space where you’ll feel valued and heard. I can help you channel new perspectives to increase your self-awareness, and address the roots of difficult thoughts and emotions. Together, we can work to understand and change the patterns that aren’t serving you, to help you ultimately live a more positive and fulfilling life.
Often we carry certain messages and beliefs about ourselves, usually rooted in childhood, which can direct our behaviour as adults. These can be self-limiting and impact many aspects of our lives – they may cause us to feel shame or discomfort, whereby we employ defence mechanisms in an attempt to protect ourselves from anxiety and help us manage difficult emotions. I can help you by looking beneath; unpicking these defence mechanisms, reframing unhelpful thought processes, and letting go of limiting beliefs.
I see counselling as an explorative and empowering process, where we will navigate your thoughts and feelings to help make sense of your experiences, and move towards personal growth by establishing new, helpful ways of thinking. Successful outcomes in therapy are directly linked to a positive therapeutic relationship between you and I, and I prioritise this in my work.
I currently offer sessions online via Zoom. I also offer a free 15-minute introductory phone/Zoom call for us to see if we are the right fit, where we will discuss what brings you to therapy and how I can help.
Practice description
I am an Integrative Counsellor, meaning my approach is a blend of various modalities of therapy so I can tailor my service to the person I am working with. I was drawn to this style as it recognises people as individuals, and that different styles work for different issues. The approaches I mainly draw from are Person-Centred, Psychodynamic, and CBT.
I aim to help you explore different parts of yourself, so you can feel more comfortable in your skin and therefore help strengthen the significant relationships in your life. I am curious about unconscious patterns we repeat, and the role our early experiences play in shaping these behaviours. I see therapy as a collaborative space, where we work together to find creative and positive ways forward.
