I accept new clients and can see you online of face-to-face.
About me and my therapy practice
I offer a confidential, warm, non-judgmental and empathetic environment so that you can feel safe while exploring whatever brings you to therapy. I work with adults and have experience supporting clients through life transitions, relationship concerns, experiences of loss and grief, low self-esteem, depression and anxiety, workplace stress and burnout, low confidence, self-doubt, perfectionism and impostor syndrome. In addition, I have been volunteering with a bereavement charity in Greater London, gaining significant experience in bereavement counselling.
I see clients in person in various locations across Surrey, currently covering Kingston, Cobham and Stoke d’Abernon, Leatherhead, Dorking and Reigate, and the surrounding areas. I also work online.
Our work together can be time limited or open-ended, and you remain in charge of setting a comfortable pace for the work we do together. We will review our sessions regularly to see how you feel they are progressing and decide on any adjustments you feel that you need.
My approach is holistic, meaning that I may invite you to explore how certain emotions feel in your body, or where they are located, or we may use the expressive arts (e.g. clay) to explore more difficult emotions that you struggle to verbalise. I am also likely to encourage you to develop your wellbeing routine by suggesting meditation or breathing techniques.
Together we can work through hurt, confusion and overwhelm to empower you to overcome your challenges, adapt to or create changes, develop your self-awareness, find self-acceptance, or negotiate your way through your difficulties, whichever your desired goal may be.
Practice description
I believe that you are the expert in your own lived experience, therefore I will follow your lead and adopt a collaborative rather than directive approach.
My training is in Integrative therapeutic counselling, placing the therapeutic relationship at the core. This means that I draw from several therapeutic modalities and will adjust my responses to suit your unique needs. Additionally, I am training as a clay therapist and Qigong teacher and bring into my practice previous experiences as a creative practitioner and educator and an interest in the person as a whole.
When you work with me you can expect that I will
- spend time getting to know you, why are seeking therapeutic support and what you wish to have changed by the time we complete our work together. I may use a form to collect and record this information and I will check in with you regularly on how you feel you are progressing through therapy.
- listen to you, occasionally repeating back themes, patterns or significant phrases which you may wish to explore in more depth.
- occasionally sit with you in silence while you gather your thoughts and process something important.
- be interested in your present experiences during therapy and between sessions.
- be curious about past events that may have influenced or resulted in your current behaviours or thinking patterns.
- be curious about how you are experiencing your emotions physically, as you talk about them and how you support yourself and your wellbeing at difficult times outside our sessions.
- (if appropriate) encourage further exploration by suggesting a body scan, breathing techniques, meditation and creative means of expression
- witness your unique process and respond in ways that empower you to find your own way
My first session
I offer a free 15-20 minute phone consultation so we can see if we are the right match, and from there we can organise a first session together.
After the phone consultation and before our first meeting, I will send you a copy of a therapy agreement so you can familiarise yourself with it and you can ask me any questions before you sign it and commence your sessions.
I provide therapy online, or in person at a clinic in Kingston and from other therapeutic spaces in Dorking, Cobham and Leatherhead.
