About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I'm Val
Thank you for taking the time to read through and a very warm welcome to my profile.
It is such a brave step to reach out and ask for help and I would like to be your helping hand if that works for you. I cannot promise to fix things, but I can listen and give you a warm, therapeutic, non-judgemental space where you can hear yourself, and this can be surprisingly powerful.
Practice description
I am person-centred at heart, in that I feel you know what you have tried and tested, however I am also integrative. This gives flexibility to our sessions and I can draw on different modalities if this feels beneficial to our therapeutic work together.
I am a former Childline Counsellor volunteer and have volunteered as a School Counsellor at a secondary school in Leicester, as well as counselling adults with a charity. I hold an enhanced DBS for Child & Adult Workforce, Counsellor and Psychotherapist, alongside my BACP registration.
I counsel adults and young people aged 11 or over, and my speciality is neurodivergence, especially autism.
I have a limited number of spaces for counselling students offering reduced rates so please do contact me if you would like to find out more about this.
And I sit on the BACP Steering Group for Good Practice and help review the BACP Good Practice in Action guides.
My first session
As carers/parents, it can feel so hard to know which way to turn or who to choose for your child/young person's therapist. I can share my Secondary School and Childline written references with you.
Whilst young people need support and we are used to putting them first, I am also wondering as their trusted person, their parent, what support are you receiving? Maybe your young person is receiving support and you are feeling overwhelmed, life is so difficult and whatever you try does not seem to be working. Having a safe space to share how you feel, without judgement can be so valuable and it is really hard
You can email, telephone or text me. We can then organise a free, initial 15 minute telephone call at a time which suits you, where we can explore what is happening for you, and if you feel you would like to work with me.
I have a registered therapy dog which can be included in our in-person sessions if this is something which you may like, and this can also be explored within our consultation.
I can provide online counselling via teams or telephone, or in-person around Rugby, Coventry, Leamington or Warwick areas.
My sessions are £55.00 each, payable in advance via Cash or BACS.
Thank you for reading my words and if you feel drawn to contact me, I would love to hear from you and be your helping hand, your listening ear. Take care of yourself.
