About me and my therapy practice
Thank you for stopping to take a moment to see how l may help you. My name is Sarah and l am a counsellor and psychotherapist. Nurture, growth and compassion captures the essence of my work which is relational and compassion focused. l offer a warm, relaxed, empathic, and non-judgmental space and I understand that your experience is unique to you, and needs to be understood as such.
At times we all feel vulnerable in life, and taking that first step to access support can feel daunting. Seeking support for your emotional support is just as important as maintaining your physical wellbeing. Therapy may help in a wide range of scenarios ranging from feeling like you have lost your way in life and feel unsettled to more intense feelings such as anxiety, stress, depression, bereavement, or overwhelm. You may have experienced abuse, a traumatic experience, relational difficulties (with family partner or other areas of your life), or you may be in a life transition such as entering adulthood, parenthood or retirement. Whatever the cause, or impact on your life, therapy can help you navigate the right path for your future.
I also have a specialist interest and experience in antenatal, postnatal and parenting difficulties including infertility, birth trauma and baby loss. Becoming a new parent can trigger a whole range of emotions including low mood, anxiety, overwhelm and an absence of connection to your baby. I work with either parent to help nurture insight and self-compassion as to how and why you may feel as you do.
I have worked in the NHS for the past 30 years which has provided me with a wealth of experience through hospital, GP practice and community working. I am a domestic abuse ambassador for a local NHS Trust and also an accredited practitioner with the Foundation for Infant Loss.
Practice description
I draw on various approaches but my main focus is relational and compassion focussed therapy (CFT). The focus of our work will vary on your unique needs, whether that is to improve your mental health through long-term work and understanding or work short-term towards clearly defined personal goals. We will collaborate an approach uniquely formed for you. Often gaining insight to our experiences helps us to make the right choices for our futures.
I offer a 20 minute free initial online appointment or telephone call to see if you feel that l am the right therapist for you and for me to see if l am able to meet your needs.
Face to face appointments are available in North Leeds and Ikley. I also offer on-line appointments nationally. Where face to face and on-line appointments are not possible l do offer telephone appointments.
Sessions are £55 and l have a limited number of concession places.
Please do get in touch to have a chat about your needs. Further information is available at www.nurturegrowthcompassion.co.uk.
My practice respects that we are all uniquely different and that individuality is at the centre of the work.
I work with young people 16 years plus and adults.
'We cannot change our past but often, gaining insight and compassion for ourselves, offers alternatives for the future.'
