About me and my therapy practice

Are you feeling, unsettled, overwhelmed or facing things that are difficult to think about on our own?

This may be something in your past or something that is current. Together we can explore these difficulties and gain insight and understanding to bring clarity and a greater sense of peace.

I am particularly experienced in attachment and relationship difficulties, pregnancy, birth, parenting, and trauma, and difficulties impacting these areas of life. I respect everyone's uniqueness and will work collaboratively with you in a way that suits you. I work in a neuro affirmative way and am also experienced in working with neurodivergent clients.

You are assured of a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental space where we can explore whatever your difficulty, leading to personal growth through a deeper understanding, acceptance, and change. Talking to people close to us may feel difficult and often working with a therapist can help you to see a clearer path to your future.

Therapy may help in a wide range of scenarios ranging from feeling like you have lost your focus or direction in life, to more intense feelings such as anxiety, depression or overwhelm.

Whatever the cause, or impact on your life, therapy can help you navigate the right path for your future.

I respect that everyone is uniquely different and do not believe that one way of working suits us all. We will work in a way that respects your individuality and aim to understand 'your' experience from 'your perspective'. Nurture, growth and compassion are present throughout my work because l believe they are fundamental for hope and future fulfilment.

In-person therapy sessions take place in a welcoming and comfortable garden room in North Leeds. I also work nationally on-line.

Do get in touch for a free 20 minute introductory session via phone or videocall to find out more about how l may be able to help you and to answer any questions you may have.

Practice description

I work in a relational way because the relationship between us is important for the effectiveness of our work, and I will aim to understand your experience from your perspective.

We will work in a way that respects your individuality and works for you. Nurturing, growth, and compassion are present throughout my work because l believe they are fundamental for hope and future fulfilment and l use many elements from compassion focussed therapy. As an integrative practitioner l also draw from other theories and approaches where they may add value.  It is vital to me that how we work will be of benefit to you and l will also include psychoeducation where relevant to help you gain insight and understanding.

I have experience in antenatal, postnatal and parenting difficulties including infertility, birth trauma and baby loss. I am an accredited practitioner with the Foundation for Infant Loss and have undergone additional training in birth trauma.

Becoming a new parent can trigger a whole range of emotions including low mood, anxiety, overwhelm and an absence of connection to your baby. I work with either parent to help nurture insight and self-compassion as to how and why you may feel as you do.

I also understand how at times it can be difficult to fit into a typical world and have lived experience of ADHD and Autism. I have 30 years of experience in therapeutic work within the NHS and l am a domestic abuse ambassador for a large NHS Trust.

I have a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy and have undergone additional training in Compassion Focused Therapy and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction.

'We cannot change our past but often, gaining insight and compassion for ourselves, offers alternatives for the future.'

Do get in touch for a free 20 minute introductory session via phone or videocall to find out more about how l may work with you and for you to ask any questions you may have.
