About me and my therapy practice

Life throws us many challenges and sometimes we are able to work our way through them, adjusting accordingly. Yet sometimes, there are moments which can leave us fighting for breath. We might experience feelings of intense worry, low mood, a sense of foreboding, or feelings of shame or guilt which we cannot shift. Perhaps we might experience stress at work or a conflict in a relationship which impacts us deeply. Significant life changes such as the death of a loved one, divorce or dealing with a long-term illness can all leave us feeling deeply off balance. It is these moments in life where counselling can help us to make sense of our experience and reconnect with ourselves in a way that helps us to take gentle steps forward.

Recognising the need to reach out for support can take an immense amount of courage. Choosing the counsellor that you want to work with can feel like a difficult path to navigate too.

I will meet you as the individual that you are and provide a warm, safe and non-judgemental space to explore the challenges that you are facing. I believe that talking through your concerns with a trained professional who has your best interests at heart can support you to arrive at a place of clarity, acceptance or indeed, new ways of coping with your situation, allowing you to feel like the best version of you.

As a qualified Therapeutic Counsellor I am a registered member of the BACP and am informed by and work to their ethical code of practice.

Practice description

I offer a safe, empathic, and non-judgemental space for you to explore whatever it might be that is impacting you. My way of working will be individual to you, and your needs as each one of us is unique and different. It is my belief that we all have the capacity to grow and change, but sometimes this needs to be nurtured. Giving yourself the time and space that you deserve is an important part of healing. Our sessions will be very much driven by you and what it is that you would like to talk about. We may look at earlier relationships and experiences together to try and understand any patterns or imprint they may have left. At times I might offer information which could help to normalise any feelings that you may have and lead to a deeper understanding.

My first session

Our first session will be a little different from the others. It will be quite structured and involve me asking you some questions in order for me to get a better understanding of you, and what you hope to gain from our time together. Following on from this, our sessions will be free flowing and centred around what you want to bring to the session.
