About me and my therapy practice
Hello.
My name is Daniel and I am a Person Centred Counsellor.
Being Person Centred means putting you first as the expert of your own life experiences. Sometimes, however, those experiences can become overwhelming and affect the way you live, how you see yourself and others, and may be holding you back from being your best self. At times like this, it can be good to have someone to talk to.
Through counselling, I offer a safe space for you to openly discuss your thoughts, feelings, and experiences as a companion on your journey as we explore together.
Practice description
I have spent many years working in education as a teacher, primarily with children and young adults with additional learning needs, and as a mental health support worker with adults. This has helped me develop a very empathetic understanding of how factors like anxiety and stress can have a huge impact on our everyday lives in very individual ways.
I enjoy the outdoors and like to bring elements of nature into my therapeutic approach. I believe nature can be a great tool for inspiration and interpretation. If you are interested in Walk and Talk sessions I would be happy to discuss this during our early sessions together.
Education
I have a Honours degree in Psychology from the University of Bolton.
I am a qualified teacher with a PGCE in secondary education from Edge Hill University.
I have a Masters degree in Clinical Counselling from the University of Chester.
Accreditations
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling Psychotherapy (BACP)
My first session
I offer a free 15 minute phone or video call. This is to give you an opportunity to talk about what is bringing you to counselling and to see if I am the right therapist for you.
The first session is then for you to talk about whatever is on your mind. As a therapist, I understand that you might have needed someone to talk to for a long time and will give you the safe space you need to explore your thoughts and feelings.
