About me and my therapy practice
Deciding to come to therapy can feel daunting. My goal is to make the experience as comfortable and supportive as possible; helping you to feel less isolated with your challenges. I offer a safe, non-judgmental and accepting space where you can freely explore any difficulties you're facing. You will set the pace and direction of each session, sharing only what feels right for you.
My approach is relational, meaning I believe that the success of therapy depends on building a strong, affirming connection with my clients. It's important you feel comfortable with me as your therapist. I offer a free phone consultation to see if we click on a personal level. There's no obligation to book further sessions.
We are all individuals, and as such have different needs. If you choose to work with me, we will work collaboratively to find the best approach to suit you. I'm an integrative therapist, which means I carry a range of therapeutic approaches in my ‘toolkit’ which I may bring into our sessions.
Why come to therapy?
People come to therapy for a variety of reasons. You might be navigating tough life situations or feeling stuck, overwhelmed by challenges that seem insurmountable. Perhaps your relationships feel unfulfilling, or you sense a disconnect from who you truly are. Maybe you’ve noticed recurring patterns in your relationships with others, and find yourself engaging in self-sabotaging behaviors. Or perhaps you simply need a space to express yourself openly, away from the pressures of modern day life.
Therapy allows us to uncover and bring awareness to unhelpful patterns we may have developed, often rooted in early-life experiences, that continue to affect how we relate to ourselves and others. Recognizing these patterns is the first step toward meaningful change and a more fulfilling life. It provides a unique space to step back, gain fresh perspectives, and deepen your understanding of your experiences, all with the support and guidance of a therapist.
Practice description
My Background:
I have previously worked as a counsellor for Cruse Bereavement, the UK's leading bereavement charity. I have also worked at Phoenix Health and Wellbeing in Leeds city centre, offering affordable psychotherapy to low-income clients.
My previous experience as a recipe writer and food creative has also shaped my approach to therapy, and I adopt a holistic view of well-being. I believe that by integrating basic self-care, such as proper nutrition and regular exercise, we can all significantly enhance our overall mental and physical health.
Where to find me:
In person sessions take place in central Leeds, at The Practice Rooms, situated just off Park Square. The environment is peaceful, safe and cosy.
I also offer online sessions via zoom.
My first session
In our first session, we’ll explore your reasons for seeking therapy and discuss your goals. We may also talk about your health, well-being, and current life circumstances, along with your background, to gain a clearer understanding of who you are and how I can best support you. You’ll never feel pressured to share anything before you're ready, and we’ll always progress at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
