About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I am Sarah, welcome to my profile.
We all need help from time to time as it can be hard when you are struggling with problems and issues in life and with stressful situations. You might be feeling anxious, stuck or even overwhelmed and unable to tackle life’s challenges on your own.
Therapy could help you to;
- explore your thoughts and feelings in a safe, confidential setting.
- learn more about yourself and take steps to more fulfilment in your life and with your connections to others.
I am an Integrative Psychotherapist & Counsellor practicing from my own private therapy room. I’m a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
My Person Centred approach puts you the client first, which means it is less directive and can help enable you to recognise and develop your own inner resources. They are present within you already, but may have become confused, buried or distorted through challenging life experiences.
I offer a warm, empathic and non-judgemental counselling relationship, which is provided in a safe and confidential space, where you can explore and express what is troubling you at a pace that is right for you.
I think that good counselling is about being with someone you trust, where you feel comfortable talking about the issues you are struggling with. I know from having my own therapy, that finding someone you 'click with' is a huge part of the process.
The relationship between myself and you the client, is at the heart of my ethical and effective practice, as this is a powerful healing tool.
I work with general difficulties such as anxiety, depression, low self-esteem and trauma.
I also have specific experience helping people navigate the impacts of Bereavement and Loss.
Practice description
In our sessions, we'll explore your concerns, try to understand things better and see if we can find a way to help you feel less burdened. This can involve looking for some insight, taking a fresh perspective, processing hard emotions and memories or identifying unproductive thought processes. It may involve simply letting things out and decompressing.
I primarily work with adults over 18 years old. I am an integrative therapist which means that I draw on different theoretical models. I believe that combining the many valuable ideas and techniques developed from the different approaches of Therapeutic Counselling, such as, Person Centred, Psychodynamic and Cognitive Behavioural Therapies (CBT) including Mindfulness, means that I am better able to meet your personal needs and adjust my approach as the work progresses, or as different issues are encountered.
As a registered member of the BACP, I am committed to ongoing CPD (Continuing Professional Development) and supervision of my clinical practice. I also abide by the BACP's 'Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions'.
Alongside my private practice, I work as a Bereavement Counsellor for Douglas Macmillan Cancer Hospice and previously practiced as a therapist within the NHS.
I am currently offering In-person sessions with clients in Stone, Staffordshire and online sessions to clients across the UK. I am experienced in both short term counselling and longer open-ended counselling, for clients who feel they need to do more in-depth work.
My first session
I offer an initial free 30-minute session to provide an opportunity for us to meet each other. We can then discuss what has brought you to therapy and what you would like to achieve from it. This session also offers the opportunity for us both to decide if we are going to be comfortable working together.
To arrange this, simply call, text or email and I will reply to your enquiry within 48 hours. We can arrange to meet either face-to-face (in my private counselling room, with private parking and easy access) or online via Zoom or telephone.
Each subsequent session then lasts 60 minutes during which time I will help you to express and explore your concerns and we will work together towards meaningful change.
There will never be pressure from me for you to sign-up to a course of therapy. We will negotiate the number of sessions and mutually agreed times for us to meet if and when an offer of therapy is accepted by you.
