About me and my therapy practice
Life isn't easy. Sometimes, we need a little professional help to get through difficult transitions. Are you going through a relationship crisis or moving out on your own? Are you struggling to find your own place and voice in the world or dealing with scholastic and professional setbacks? Are you mourning the passing of a loved one or an important phase of your life? I can help you navigate your life challenges, whether it is a specific issue, a broader range of concerns, or even an anxiety you can't quite put your finger on. Life isn't easy. But you can still make a change and live your best life, no matter what age you are.
I am a perceptive and empathetic listener who understands innately how taking control of one's personal narratives can empower positive change. My previous career in journalism and communications and my volunteer work have given me a wide appreciation of diverse experiences. I offer a safe, non-judgmental space for therapeutic healing.
Please know you are not alone. I believe in a client-centred and collaborative approach tailored to your specific needs and at a suitable pace. This means I will sit and work closely with you to unpack the challenges you are facing, explore new insights, and journey with you on your road to self discovery and self empowerment.
Practice description
I am in my 50s, with decades of experience in the corporate world. Counselling is my second career. Using science-based therapy methods, combined with my lived experience, professional background and volunteer work with women's groups, I offer a safe non-judgmental space for exploration and healing.
I work with clients experiencing life transitions who feel unable to move ahead. I help them unpack disruptive emotional and behavioural manifestations which may be related to work or school; family, social, professional or intimate relationships; as well as major life events like bereavement, divorce, retrenchment or retirement. I also counsel clients struggling with their personal identities.
My first session
My therapeutic approach is Eclectic, Person-Centred and Collaborative. I often use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy as a foundation. In our first session, after you have filled in a simple assessment form, we will spend time exploring the issues troubling you and their possible causes.
During treatment, I will work closely with you to identify what you hope to achieve with therapy and develop a plan towards that goal.
