About me and my therapy practice

I am a qualified integrative counsellor and trainee existential-phenomenological psychotherapist, in the third year of my MA at Regent’s University.

My experience as a therapist has included working in higher education (in a music conservatoire); in an NHS-funded holistic women’s health centre; and in a low-cost long-term psychotherapy service, where I continue to see clients on a voluntary basis.

I aim to offer a warm, non-judgmental space in which together, we can safely explore the difficulties that you are facing. Through developing trust, and gently challenging you, we will build a therapeutic relationship in which painful knots may be gradually loosened and untangled. Therapy does not offer magical solutions (although breakthroughs are not unknown). It will not solve all your difficulties, and it certainly doesn’t offer an overnight 'fix'. However, by shining a light on those areas of darkness that are weighing on you, and developing a sense of being truly known, you may begin to encounter a sense of relief.

In terms of my background, I originally trained and qualified as a lawyer in the city, where I worked for a few years. I also have experience working as a consultant in a university careers department. I have a longstanding interest in ethics and back in 2008, completed an MA in Philosophy (with Distinction); my dissertation was entitled ‘‘Don’t Blame Me!’ – An Investigation into How to Approach the Moral Responsibility Debate’’. This perhaps laid the foundations for the path that I have now chosen to follow, on which I am deepening my understanding of some of the existential themes that affect us all.

I work with clients from a wide range of backgrounds, and particularly welcome neurodivergent women who have experienced trauma.

Therapy is a two-way process. I welcome enquiries in view of arranging an initial session, to see if we might be a good fit.
