Availability
I‘m Freya, a counsellor based here in beautiful Bristol, working online only. I currently have availability to welcome new clients to my private practice.
At the moment, I have available therapy spaces open on Mondays, Thursday morning/afternoon and Friday morning/afternoon, but I will have increased availability including more evenings from September.
Please feel free to contact me if your availability falls outside of these times, and if I can accommodate you, I will.
About me and my therapy practice
As an integrative, Person-Centered counsellor, I have worked with a diverse range of individuals and their lived experiences, including anxiety, depression, relational difficulties, self-esteem issues, loss and navigating life with neurodivergence or gender non-conformity. I build my counselling relationships on warmth, kindness, authenticity and mutual trust. It is important to me that you feel welcome to bring your whole self to our sessions and feel confident doing so without fear of judgement.
From experience, having an impartial ally to speak with in confidence, to empathise with you, challenge you at times, reassure and encourage you can be incredibly useful source of support. I would be very happy to hold a space for you and your story, and walk alongside you in this work. If you think I could be a good fit as your counsellor, please do reach out!
Regardless of the circumstances which have prompted you to consider therapy, I believe everybody holds the potential to change, grow, and build a meaningful life. My approach as a therapist is to ensure you feel at home in our interactions and comfortable bringing your whole self to our work together.
Practice description
My work as a therapist is rooted in Person-Centred practices. I believe you to be the expert on yourself and your needs. My role is to provide a dedicated safe space to explore aspects of yourself, your lifestyle or your core beliefs that might be holding you back or require updating to best be of service to you. My integrative training allows me to draw from a range of therapeutic modalities and techniques enabling us to adopt an approach that best suits you.
Rather than positioning myself as the expert in the room, I prefer to work collaboratively with you. This might involve asking clarifying questions to prompt deeper insight, offering a different perspective to see how it resonates with you, using creative writing or drawing exercises to explore what you bring, or simply holding a space for you to talk.
Throughout our time together I will take cues from you about the nature and pace of the work, so we can co-create a way of working which meets your unique needs and preferences. Together, we will navigate your journey, fostering growth and understanding along the way.
My first session
I offer a free 20-30 minute phone or video call for you to meet with me, give me a sense of what you hope to work on in therapy and explore whether you feel I could be a good fit as your therapist.
From there, if you decide to continue working with me, sessions will be 50 minutes in duration and will be a safe space for you to bring whatever need to. I will be here to listen and support you.
