About me and my therapy practice
I am Sarah, an integrative humanistic counsellor. I work with both adults and young people to help them discover their best selves. I believe everyone deserves to be heard and, given the right conditions, can learn to understand themselves better and realise their potential, becoming the person they are meant to be.
I will provide a warm, welcoming, and safe space for you to explore your issues and begin your journey to finding the real you. I believe that everyone should be listened to with empathy and without judgment. Given this opportunity, you will be amazed at the insights you will uncover within yourself and find your own answers to issues, enabling you to become the person you were meant to be.
I work with adults and young people experiencing a range of issues, including self-harm, suicidal thoughts, feelings of isolation, grief, and low self-esteem.
Additionally, I am deaf-aware, having worked in deaf education with deaf young people and their families.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Practice description
I work in an agency setting, providing counselling to young people in schools. I also support deaf adults and young people considering a cochlear implant at an Auditory Implant Service.
Additionally, I have my private practice, The Fold Counselling, where I can see clients in person or online.
In my practice, I mainly use a person-centered approach, focusing on your needs and allowing you to decide what areas you wish to discuss and giving you the time and space to do that. I will also incorporate various tools and techniques to help you access and understand your own emotions.
My first session
I am offering a free, no-obligation 15-minute phone call to help you decide if counselling with me would be beneficial for you. During the call, we will discuss whether you would prefer online or in-person sessions, go over my fees and payment options, and find a suitable time for you to start your counselling journey.
If you choose to proceed, our first session will focus on getting to know you better, understanding your counselling goals, and identifying the issues you would like to address. I will explain how we will work together, ensuring that you have a safe and supportive environment based on the ethical principles of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. We will then mutually agree on the terms that will guide our work together.
