About me and my therapy practice
Do you sometimes feel a sense of disconnect, as if something integral is missing? Have you ever felt ungrounded due to an absence of biological roots? Do you have deep-seated fears of abandonment which are impacting on your current relationships? Maybe you sometimes feel out of place or different and question your value and place in the world. Do you find that your feelings can sometimes be minimised, that you feel misunderstood or perhaps you are experiencing feelings of shame or guilt about wanting to explore your heritage or roots?
As an adoptee, I have walked a path that has shaped both my personal life and my professional work as a counsellor. I understand the complexities of identity, belonging, and the emotional challenges that often come with being adopted.
My own experiences with adoption have allowed me to connect deeply with individuals who are navigating similar journeys, offering a perspective that is both empathetic and insightful. In addition to an MA in Integrative Counselling, I have completed specialised training in the area of adoption support to broaden my knowledge and understanding.
As someone who has lived through these challenges, I approach my counselling practice with a deep sense of compassion and understanding for the complex emotions involved. My experience as an adoptee has instilled in me the value of self-discovery, emotional healing, and building meaningful connections. I am committed to helping you work through the layers of your own experiences, offering a safe, non-judgemental space where you can explore your feelings at your own pace.
Working with me can help you with greater self-awareness and in finding a more secure sense of your authentic self. Together we can work through your feelings of not belonging and abandonment, developing coping mechanisms to support you in building stronger relationships. Therapy can also help you in re-building your self-worth, reinforcing a sense of inherent value and self-respect.
