About me and my therapy practice
Welcome. If you've found yourself here, then you've taken the courageous decision to start your therapy journey. Although it is not an easy thing to undertake, therapy can have huge benefits for you in your life. When it comes to choosing a therapist, it is important to trust your instincts, so if you find that you connect with what I have written here then please do get in touch.
I am a transpersonal integrative psychotherapist (BACP registered) with a passion for working creatively and connecting with my clients. I believe that the relationship between therapist and client is at the heart of therapy.
Many people coming to therapy feel isolated, stuck or lost, or are struggling to cope with current or past trauma, anxiety or depression. Having a space to explore these feelings can enable understanding and healing. As a therapist, I believe in our endless capacity for growth. I believe in the healing power of being heard, witnessed and deeply understood by another human being; and this is what I strive to offer in relationship with my clients.
I will sit with you and listen with empathy and openness, providing a safe space in which to explore your experiences, thoughts and feelings. Together we may notice patterns, find meaning and new perspectives. Sometimes therapy involves sitting with what is, without seeking to change it. Through this process, you can develop self-compassion as well as compassion for those around you and grow in self-acceptance. This can enable you to discover your strength and resilience, moving toward a more authentic way of being in the world.
Practice description
'Transpersonal' literally means beyond the person, and working with this lens means recognising that there is a spiritual dimension underpinning everything. In practice, this means that I work holistically with clients, incorporating mind, body, emotions and spirit.
I invite exploration of unconscious influences through the use of creative imagination. This can involve working with dreams, visualisations, drawing or using objects to represent relationships, parts of yourself or elements of a real situation you’ve encountered.
Integrative therapy refers to the blending of different approaches. I work in a very relational and person-centred way, and I like to work collaboratively to find the best approach for each client. I may have skills and tools, but you are the expert in you, and what you bring to therapy is of great value.
Therapy can help to peel back the layers of conditioning and wounding, helping us to access and embrace our true soul nature. When we are able to live and make choices which align with our true self, it can lead to greater fulfilment and an increased sense of wellbeing and empowerment.
My first session
At the beginning of the process, I offer a free 20 minute phone call. This is an opportunity for us to chat and see if we might like to work together, and for you to ask any questions you may have about the therapy.
If you would like to go ahead, we can schedule an initial session. I will also send you my contract and GDPR information, and you will have an opportunity to discuss anything that comes up for you.
The first session will be slightly more directive than a typical therapy session, I will ask you for some more information about yourself and what you would like to gain from therapy, using this information to create a 'road map' for us to work together.
Finding the right therapist is an incredibly subjective process and it is important for you to find someone you feel comfortable with. This session will also be an opportunity for both of us to see how we feel about working together. If I feel that I do not have the right skillset to help you then I will let you know.
If you would like to explore things further, please email me to arrange a phone call and discuss availability.
