About me and my therapy practice
I understand how hard taking the first steps to get help can be. Not knowing quite how talking about things might help or even if you are ready to let someone share your inner world.
As a qualified humanistic counsellor registered with the BACP, I will work collaboratively with you and be guided by what you want to explore. I’ll support and encourage you to examine what you struggle with and how this makes you feel, perhaps noticing well-worn patterns in your life that no longer work for you. Looking at your experiences in new ways can allow you to let go of difficult feelings. Whether using creative ways of exploring your life or just sitting and talking, a session will be unique to you.
Therapy can be challenging and hard work but can be healing and rewarding too and can allow you to move forward in life; increasing your self-awareness, giving you a greater sense of self, and helping you find more positive ways of thinking, feeling and behaving.
Within my practice, acceptance and understanding are key to our work as well as building a strong working relationship between ourselves. I endeavor to practise with compassion, in a way that respects our differences, working to understand the impact of these on mental health and wellbeing.
I have an affinity with the experience of feeling different, particularly when this feeling becomes overwhelming and affects our daily lives. I am both LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent affirming.
Practice description
I offer open-ended therapeutic counselling, which means it is up to you how many sessions you would like to have; some people are happy with six sessions, some with six months, and others with years. You probably will not know at the outset how many sessions you want and so this is always open to discussion.
My first session
You can get in touch with me via email or phone to arrange an introductory session, which can take place either face to face in my therapy room or online.
To gain a true impression of how our relationship might work, I offer this first session at 50% of my regular fee which is usually £60. However, this initial session will be the same length as the ongoing sessions which will be 50 minutes.
This will give you an opportunity to find out more about how we might work together and ask any questions you might have.
If you decide that you would like to work with me, at our next session we will discuss and sign a contract that will outline the terms of our work together.
