About me and my therapy practice
I hold a master’s degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy and I am a registered member of the BACP with over 10 years experience in supporting individuals across various capacities. My expertise spans mental health, relationships, victims of crime (including domestic and sexual violence), and personal development, with a specialisation in building trusting relationships with clients from diverse backgrounds and age groups. Grounded in person-centred theory, I use evidence-based practice to deliver tailored interventions to promote holistic well-being and independence.
Person-centered therapy is a therapeutic approach that places you, the client, at the center of the therapeutic process. It emphasises your capacity for self-direction and self-healing, with the therapist acting as a supportive guide rather than an expert or authority figure. Through person-centered therapy, you’ll experience a growth-oriented journey where you feel understood, accepted, and empowered. This therapeutic relationship helps you unlock your potential and move towards a more fulfilling and authentic life.
I also work Integratively which is a flexible and holistic approach to psychotherapy that combines techniques and theories from various therapeutic models to suit your unique needs. Rather than adhering to a single methodology, integrative therapists tailor their approach based on your individual circumstances, preferences, and goals.
If you have a timescale we can work towards a formal structure that allows the use of careplans and intergates worksheets into our therapy (CBT). Message me to be able to enquire about this.
I currently work online, however I have availablity for home-visits should a client meet the requirements.
Practice description
My personal therapy experience helps me understand how daunting it can be to ask for help. As a practitioner, I create a non-judgmental, supportive environment to promote your growth and independence. Other people describe me as a warm and honest person (and humble!) I hold my clients in the highest regard, just as I would be expected to be if I were to go to therapy.
I have held roles in mental health, homelessness, and domestic violence support, equipping me to assist vulnerable populations, including unaccompanied asylum seeker children and care leavers. My focus is on addressing their mental health needs and fostering independence with compassion and professionalism.
Specialisms
LGBTQ+ Support: I assist LGBTQ+ individuals and their families with coming out and transitioning. My personal experiences enable me to offer empathetic support. I also donate to Stonewall or a pro-LGBTQ+ charity of your choice for LGBTQ+ clients.
Chronic Health Conditions and Disability: I support individuals and families dealing with long-term health issues and disabilities, offering home visits in exceptional cases within North Staffs.
Youth Support (11-18): I am passionate about working with young people, offering compassionate support and promoting good mental health management. As such, circumstances of the sessions are to be kept confidential between the therapist and the client (with the exception of safeguarding concerns). However, I will always encourage the young person to postively communicate with others as this will support their growth. Any young people sessions will only be available with the informed consent of the young person.
Concessions
I offer concessions for clients with genuine needs, such as unemployment, single parents, disability, and young people.
Initial Consultation
I offer a free 15-minute phone call to discuss your needs, therapy expectations, and whether we are a good fit. If I’m not the right fit, I’m happy to refer you to other suitable counselors.
My first session
Along with the free 15 minutes, I offer a reduced rate of £30 for our first session. This is because the right client-therapist 'fit' is vital.
