About me and my therapy practice
Hello! I'm Emma and I am a qualified counsellor with a Masters degree in Integrative Counselling from Leeds Beckett University. I am a member of the BACP and follow their ethical guidelines.
Before I qualified as a counsellor, I studied for my BSc (Hons) Psychology degree, finding a particular interest in the counselling studies. I was also a teaching assistant in a special educational needs high school, providing support for children with social, emotional, and mental health needs.
Practice description
As a counsellor I take an integrative approach, with an emphasis on your therapeutic goals. I offer an empathetic and safe space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings. For example, my counselling experience can offer you support with difficulties like, anxiety and stress, low self-esteem, and day to day difficulties.
I am also passionate about working with young people through difficulties they may face. I understand young people go through difficult times: school workload, physical changes, and relationships. I believe it is important to be supported through these challenges as all these can be quite overwhelming for a growing mind and body.
I have a background of working with neurodiversity within young people and adults. I have previously worked as a special educational needs teaching assistant where I worked closely with students who have diverse learning needs, including those with autism, ADHD, and learning disabilities. I believe my experience allows me to be able to support the client in a collaborative approach that they are comfortable with.
