About me and my therapy practice

You may be here because you are struggling to cope with life's demands or perhaps you wish to gain a deeper understanding of yourself and your story. You may be experiencing anxiety that feels unmanageable. Whatever it is that brings you to counselling, my aim is to be with you and alongside you. Through our relationship we can try to make sense of some of the challenges that come with being human.

I offer weekly counselling sessions on a short-term or long-term basis. I can provide a calm, confidential and space for you to share your thoughts and feelings without judgement. As a humanistic counsellor I believe that you know your experience best and have all the resources within you to face life's challenges. I believe that being listened to in this way and forming a meaningful therapeutic relationship can bring about clarity, new perspective and healing.

I draw from existential-phenomenological thinking, which values the uniqueness and individual experience of each person. I can offer you the time and space to explore whatever is happening for you right now.

In addition to being a counsellor I am a mother and a writer. I have a particular interest in the experience of parenthood and how it can affect our sense of ourselves. I am also curious about the experience of feeling different, particularly when this feeling becomes overwhelming and affects our daily lives. I stand in solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community and welcome clients of all sexual identities. I strive to work in a way that is compassionate and anti-oppression.

Practice description

I am a fully qualified member of the BACP and I hold a PGDip in Humanistic Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of Brighton. I also have a Masters in Creative Writing and a BA in English Literature, so my interest in people's stories has been a strong influence for most of my life.

My work over the years has revolved around caring for people. I have eleven years of experience in the charity and teaching sectors and have worked specifically with women experiencing domestic violence, children with special educational needs, illness, postnatal depression, estrangement, addiction and bereavement.

My first session

I offer an initial free 20 minute Zoom meeting so that we can meet one another and find out how we might work together. There is no obligation to continue after this. It is important to find the right counsellor for you.
