About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I'm Lisa.
I am a qualified counsellor who currently works in person from a lovely building in Sittingbourne High Street, online via Zoom and via telephone.
I believe that you are the expert of your life because only you know how it really feels to be you and that can feel like a lonely place sometimes.
I am a warm, friendly person and will work hard to create a trusting therapeutic relationship with you so that you can feel safe in sharing your feelings and emotions. Together we can explore what is troubling you and work as a team to find a way forward.
I have experienced the positive life changing effects that counselling can have on a person and strive to offer that to all my clients.
I can work with a range of issues including anxiety, depression, loss and bereavement, family and romantic relationship difficulties, domestic abuse, low self esteem, confidence issues and difficult childhood experiences.
I have experience working with people who have a terminal illness and their family members, and I currently hold a voluntary position as a counsellor for people under the care of a hospice.
I have experience supporting people living with chronic health conditions and disabilities.
I have a keen interest in working with people who are Neurodivergent, this includes Autism, ADHD and functional Tic disorder. I also work with people who have children and family members who are Neurodivergent.
Practice description
I work with adults and children from the age of 13 on an individual basis and can provide both short term and long term therapy.
I am trained in Person-centred therapy, which means that I do not offer advice and tell you what you should or should not be doing, instead I help you to explore what is going on for you that has lead you to seek help. Together we can look at your thoughts and emotions and explore what the problems are and how we can help you move forward. The counselling relationship is unique as the focus is on you and your life. You decide what you want to talk about and you decide how you want to go about resolving the issues you have. It is your safe, confidential, non-judgemental space, to concentrate on you and you alone.
My first session
I offer a free 20 minute telephone or online session so that you can discuss what your needs are and we can then explore if that is something I can help with. When looking for a counsellor it is so important that you feel comfortable and understand how that counsellor works. This free discussion will not only allow you to see if you think I am someone you can work with, but also to ask any questions you may have.
If after this free session and after you have had time to think about it, you feel you would like to work with me, we can then arrange your first session.
In that first session I will take a few basic details from you and then we can explore how you would like to work. I can offer weekly or fortnightly and this can be changed as needed.
