About me and my therapy practice

Although we all know that life can be challenging, when these challenges feel overwhelming, devastating or become a crisis, psychotherapy helps you to know you are not alone, to make sense of things and to find an increasing sense of ease and wellness, within a relationship of trust and safety.

We are all made up of many parts. Psychotherapy helps to illuminate how the many different parts of your ‘self’ are influencing, or being influenced by the challenging situation you find yourself in. It works by using the relationship between us to bring parts of yourself that were previously unconscious and hidden from your view, into your consciousness. Of course, this depends on you feeling confident, safe and relaxed with your therapist so that the real work of delving deep beneath the surface can take place in a supportive relationship.

Psychodynamic psychotherapy enables you to know your own mind, live an authentic life and find out what you really want and need.

Ultimately, the aim is to free you from those unconscious patterns and behaviours (often established in very early life) that have held you captive. Once conscious however, their spell is broken. They no longer hold the power to keep you stuck or repeating unwanted patterns of behaving or relating.

Having worked for many years within the NHS and Social care with adults, children, new mothers and babies,, I bring great depth and breadth of experience to my psychotherapeutic expertise

My postgraduate degree in Psychodynamic counselling and psychotherapy, combined with my work and life experience equip me to support you in most areas that can affect one's mental health:

including (but not limited to):

Anxiety

Depression, sadness, grief and loss

Trauma – past and present

Anger and emotional instability

Relationship issues

Acute and chronic physical illness

Life transitions – leaving home, fertility, becoming a parent, living with teens, children leaving home, divorce, menopause, retirement, facing mortality.
