About me and my therapy practice
Using a creative and compassionate approach, we will work together to gently explore and process your unique experiences and challenges, for healing and growth.
Practice description
I believe creativity can be a powerful tool for self-discovery and emotional well-being and that every person has the innate capacity for healing and growth.
I bring a creative perspective to our work together, drawing on a wide range of therapeutic creative and art activities and other experiential techniques eg. image cards, collage, visualisation, to help you connect with your authentic self to explore the challenges which brought you here.
My approach is rooted in empathy, authenticity and compassion, to support you in making sense of your unique experiences and inner world. I offer an inclusive, safe, confidential and non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and aspirations.
From both training and lived experience I can support you with a wide range of issues including bereavement, loss, trauma, identity, neurodiversity, hidden disability, chronic illness, women’s issues including menopause, miscarriage, parenting, life transitions, self-esteem, anxiety, childhood issues, attachment issues and more.
Further to my professional qualifications including a PG Diploma, I am trauma certified and integrate talking therapy with a range of approaches and techniques including Compassion Focussed Therapy, CBT, Transactional Analysis and Attachment awareness, uniquely to suit your needs and goals.
I have a safe, comfortable therapy studio room in a calm, discreet, beautiful building in Harrogate for our face-to-face sessions. There is also a spacious café and lounge area you can use to prepare for our sessions or take time to reflect afterwards.
If you’re looking for a therapist who will honour your individuality and help you explore ways to integrate creativity into your personal or professional growth, please contact me for a free initial getting to know each other chat.
My first session
During our first session we will go through an intake form together which includes both factual information (GP etc) and also details about you, your interests and your needs for the space and from therapy.
We do this in a very gentle, informal way. It is a great way for us to get to know each other, for you to ask questions and for me to ensure the space feels safe and comfortable for you.
I will explain my range of approaches to the work and we can start to explore your hopes for therapy and ways we can work together. Our work together is an ongoing, collaborative approach, which can be reviewed and adapted to ensure you are getting what you need from the sessions. We will end the first session by confirming your next session - usually the following week, at the same time.
You have taken this important, brave first step and I hold this session in my diary exclusively for you to help you plan ahead and dedicate this valuable space in the week - for yourself.
