About me and my therapy practice
Hi, my name is Jessica Jeffrey. Clients usually call me Jess. I see adult clients (18+) for a wide range of difficulties. I can help with anxiety (from low level anxiety to anxiety disorders), depression, grief, low self-esteem or a feeling of no longer being the person you once were. Lots of clients come and see me because they sense that something 'isn't quite right' but feel too overwhelmed to know where to start or how to fix it.
I work within The Grove Practice: Ilkley's leading practice for Counselling and Psychotherapy professionals, providing high standards of therapy within a warm and welcoming environment.
I see clients face to face on Thursdays and Fridays. The practice (next to Bettys, upstairs) holds several custom-built therapy rooms, beautifully furnished to an exceptionally high standard and has a discreet entrance at the back of the building. It is close to public transport links, on-street parking, and a large public car park just metres away.
I also see clients online, via video call on Wednesdays.
Practice description
How can I help?
Here’s what I do to help. We sit down together in a relaxed and informal session for an in-depth conversation, with the opportunity for weekly follow-up sessions. Whatever is going on – whether you’re stressed, feeling low or feeling anxious – I can help you feel less overwhelmed and tangled up.
There's no pressure to change or ‘go on a journey’ within our sessions. You can come and just ‘be’. Sessions will be time spent purely on you. I see clients for short-term and long-term therapy, so there's no pressure to commit to any set number of sessions and you can just come for one or two if that feels right.
My approach
My practice is influenced by my own lived experiences, including my training in relational integrative psychotherapy, my interest in psychology, and overcoming my own personal challenges. My style is informed by my belief in what really makes a difference in therapy: a warm and friendly approach with someone who shows genuine care over sensitive feelings.
It’s my intention to deeply understand and ‘get’ what life is like for you. I may ask gentle questions, or give tentative reflections to help you to go deeper into your experience and understand yourself better. If it feels helpful, I may suggest new techniques or ideas for you to 'try on for size'. Above all, I can be someone who listens with kindness and care, accepting and welcoming every bit of you.
My first session
Booking in and first session
The first step is to book a free 10-minute consultation via video or telephone call (your preference – both work well). To do this, please feel free to contact me in a way that is most comfortable for you; either by phone, text, or email. You can expect to receive a warm and friendly response.
The consultation will give you the chance to work out whether I’m the right therapist for you, and for me to ensure I’m qualified to work with the issues you’re dealing with.
After this, if you’d like to go ahead, we can book your first session. There is no obligation to book a certain number of sessions and you can stop at any time. After booking, I’ll email you my contract (containing details such as confidentiality, fees, and cancellation policy) along with full details of how to locate my address, plus a video clip of how to find the entrance. There are two flights of stairs that lead up to the counselling rooms.
Until the time your session starts, you can rest in the waiting area which has comfortable chairs, tea and coffee facilities and a toilet next door. When it’s time to start you can expect a warm and smiley hello from me and I’ll be ensuring everything feels as soothing and comfortable as possible before we settle down and begin.
