About me and my therapy practice
As a qualified counsellor with over 20 years’ experience within health and social care, I understand how complex some people are. I have a genuine willingness and curiosity to explore the unique way in which you process the experience of being you.
I use a Humanistic approach, meaning I work collaboratively with you, the client, being the expert on yourself - there is no hierarchy in the counselling room. I aim to provide a safe and secure environment using three key elements - empathy, honesty while remaining non-judgmental.
Our first sessions will centre around building the foundations of a trusting relationship in which you can feel safe whilst exploring your feelings and emotions. I aim to provide this safe and secure environment using three key elements - empathy, honesty while remaining non-judgmental. Your sessions will be led by you dictating the pace at which we travel.
I will work as a channel through which you can begin to take your first tentative steps towards self-discovery and self-acceptance. I will walk hand in hand with you through each session and endeavour to help you to help yourself by communicating with you in a down to earth manner. There may be counselling sessions with a serious tone, but I also make room for humour.
My counselling qualification comes from graduating from a Clinical Diploma/BSc (Hons) Humanistic Counselling degree at the distinguished Metanoia Institute in London. The three modalities that make up the Humanistic training are Person Centred (PC), Transactional Analysis (TA) and Gestalt. However, I can also incorporate the tools of CBT and Solution Focussed Therapy where appropriate.
Whether you need a witness who holds a safe space for you to feel heard and seen, help with practical and realistic goal setting or anything in between, I have the experience to tailor make your sessions to your needs.
