About me and my therapy practice
My name is Nolan Richardson, and I’m a Cardiff-based counsellor and psychotherapist offering sessions in person, online, and over the phone. I am committed to making therapy accessible to everyone and have had the privilege of working with people of varying ages, backgrounds, and life experiences.
Using a relational and collaborative approach, I draw on a range of therapeutic theories and methods to tailor each session to your unique circumstances and needs. Whether you’re facing anxiety, relationship challenges, loss, low self-esteem, or a life transition, you can expect a warm, compassionate environment paired with practical tools to support your growth and healing.
Practice description
From our very first session, my focus is on listening deeply and understanding your unique story, experiences, and challenges. Each session will be a collaborative effort, designed to help you explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours in a supportive and non-judgmental space.
Together, we will address the issues that brought you to therapy, using effective strategies to help you gain clarity, build resilience, and move forward with confidence and self-awareness. My aim is to empower you to navigate life’s complexities with greater understanding.
My first session
To help you decide if working together feels right, I offer a free 15-minute phone or video call before our first full session. This brief introductory conversation gives us a chance to connect, discuss what you’re looking for in therapy, and answer any initial questions you might have.
In our first full session, my focus is on creating a safe, welcoming space where you feel comfortable sharing your story and discussing the challenges or questions that brought you to therapy. This session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another, explore your background, and discuss your hopes for our work together. We’ll set initial goals at a pace that feels right for you, without the pressure of formal assessments.
Sessions are available in person, online, or by phone - whichever suits your needs best. This first meeting will lay the foundation for a supportive therapeutic relationship and help us determine if my approach is the right fit for you.
