About me and my therapy practice

I work with women who need time and space to reconnect with themselves and their inner wisdom.

Difficult, uncomfortable feelings are often an indication that something needs to change but often we don’t know where to begin.

As women, symptoms may appear for the first time or be exacerbated by hormonal fluctuations, particularly around perimenopause and beyond. This is often a time when our relationships change; our parents are getting older and if we have children they may be becoming more independent of us. Our career may not have offered everything we had dreamed of in our younger years. It is a time of reflection and re-evalutation.

If this is where you are, I can offer a safe, non-judgemental space to constructively explore aspects of yourself and your life that may be painful or uncomfortable in a confidential and compassionate way. I can guide you in listening to yourself, gaining insight and making choices which move you towards a more authentic, congruent life aligned with what is important to you.

About me

I am trained in psychosynthesis therapeutic counselling, a form of therapy which embraces all aspects of our being; physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual.  

I have an understanding of autism, sensory issues, ME/CFS and PANS/PANDAS acquired through supporting  much loved family members.

My curiosity to understand the interplay between our emotional and physical health led me to more recently qualify as a nutritional therapist.   So I am able to offer simple lifestyle and nutritional advice.

Practice description

Whilst counselling is predominantly a ‘talking therapy’ we may use techniques such as guided visualisation, drawing, breath work and the exploration of dreams.

The process is collaborative. My role is to listen, without judgement and guide you in listening to yourself.

Listening to yourself may come naturally but can be confusing when ‘a part of me wants to do x and a part of me doesn’t’. The goal is to increase your self-awareness, how different aspects of us can influence how we feel, our behaviours, and relationships. With increased awareness we begin to recognise and understand these influences and more choices become available to us.

Sometimes in life we can become stuck, frustrated, angry or despondent. By listening to these different aspects and allowing them to fully express themselves we deepen our understanding of their/our needs and create a clearer sense of ourselvesour self and our options.

The practice is in a ground floor space in central Taunton with parking nearby. It’s a calm, private space, designed so you can feel safe, able to relax and be yourself. 

My first session

You’re welcome to a free 20 minute conversation. This can be via telephone or in person at my clinic in central Taunton. This is an opportunity for you to share your reason for seeking support at this time and for you to decide if you feel I will be a good fit for you.

In the first full session, I will ask you to share with me your story, major life events that have led to where you are today together with your hopes and dreams for the future.
