About me and my therapy practice
Thank you for taking the time to find out a little bit more about me and what I have to offer. My aim in therapy is to offer you a safe space where you can look at what’s going on for you, explore what you want and find ways to manage this and move on.It takes great courage to consider looking for some professional help. I have a background in trauma, abuse, PTSD, bereavement, and ADHD. I’m here to help with whatever is causing you concern in a warm, safe, non-judgmental supportive place.
It's not easy to admit when we might need some help, or to actively seek it out. It's a really big step. Take your time, you're in control of what happens next, so do things at your own pace.
I believe the transformations that can happen within counselling can be life changing. When you open up, share, and reflect on the inner workings of your world with someone, amazing things can happen. With the support of the right person, you can understand, process, and overcome the things that have seemed insurmountable for so long.
I work with adults over 18 face to face as well as online and over the telephone. I’m a fully qualified Counsellor and a Registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP). I am also a qualified Life Coach.
I am an ADHD- Certified Services Provider (ADHD-CCSP). This means that I am a leader in helping clients with ADHD overcome their emotional, behavioural, relationship and achievement challenges so they can thrive in their lives.
Through my own experiences of therapy and my training, I’ve been able to discover who I am and find some inner peace for myself and I’d really like to be able to help you feel a similar way.
I work remotely, nationwide using telephone and Zoom and face to face in Christchurch, Dorset.
I welcome clients from all walks of life and with a wide range of issues.
Practice description
Before dedicating myself to counselling I worked in the NHS for over 20 years. In my NHS job, I specialised in supporting people who had long-term physical health problems such as chronic pain and fatigue, cancer, strokes, and heart issues amongst other problems.
In addition to my private practice, I am a volunteer with Macmillan and with Cruse Bereavement Services. Both of these roles have enabled me to gain experience working with people with diverse backgrounds and a wide range of presenting issues.
I am trained as a Person-Centred counsellor which means I will not coach you or tell you how you should live your life, but instead help you gain deeper self-understanding to then help you figure out how best to move forward. Ultimately, we all know in our hearts what is right for our own lives, but we sometimes need someone else to help us uncover this. This is my role.
I have recently qualified as a Life Coach so can offer this as an additional service.
Free initial 20 minute telephone session
Additional information
I charge £40 per hour for telephone and online sessions and £50 per hour for in-person sessions.
Clinic Location -
The practice is situated in the The Wessex Health Network, 17 Stour Road, Christchurch BH23 1PL.
My first session
I offer a free 20 minute initial telephone conversation. The purpose of this is to get a sense of how we might work together, and discuss your needs. We will run over the contract and talk about what to expect from our therapeutic relationship. Then we can discuss what you are hoping to gain from therapy.
After this session, it is fine for you to reflect on how you feel it went, and let me know if you'd like to continue working together. It's important to feel comfortable with your therapist to get the most out of therapy.
Subsequently, my fee is £50 for 50 minutes for in person sessions, and £40 for remote video or telephone sessions.
