About me and my therapy practice
About me well I am Jen, nice to meet you.
I started my journey in counselling as a child, I have had good experiences and not-so-good experiences, but they have all been experiences and all experiences that I have learnt from.
I believe talking therapy on my journey gave me space and time to reflect on things that maybe I would have ignored and not learnt from. This is why I started my journey to give back and give others a chance to consider, think and be kind to themselves.
Counselling focuses on you and moving past any blocks that prevent you from living your life as you wish. Together we can explore your present situation and past experiences that have left you wanting to talk about them. Talking can allow you to gain a deeper insight and understanding of yourself.
I provide a safe, non-judgmental space, promoting self-reflection and kindness, which are important factors in therapeutic change. We will work collaboratively with the work you bring, you will be in control of your journey and together we could work to create a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship.
Your starting point and end goals are unique as your challenges and feelings individually affect you. With this in mind, my approach is flexible and will be tailored to your needs, respecting both you and your goals. Change can be facilitated in many ways, with an overall aim of reducing emotional distress and developing healthy coping mechanisms leading to a more fulfilling future.
We will regularly discuss your journey to check that you are still gaining what you require from counselling, and reflect on the steps that you have taken on the journey.
Practice description
Deciding to engage in counselling can be anxiety-provoking and daunting.
I offer a confidential and safe therapeutic environment for you to explore and process the challenges, you are facing, at your own pace.
Your first session will enable us to look at your reasons and goals for choosing counselling. During this time you can ask any questions or discuss any concerns that you may have about the counselling process.
After your initial session, you are welcome to book further sessions or take some time to reflect on your experience and decide if counselling with me is something you wish to engage in.
If you are not certain of your end goals or even know what your concerns are exactly but you just feel like you need some space do get in touch.
Counselling is a fluid process and goals can often change, however, these can become apparent throughout the counselling process.
