Availability

I have limited availability for face to face sessions. I run a small private practice with in-person clients at the Turner Centre in Colchester and Chelmsford Counselling and Therapy Centre. I have more flexibility online (Zoom) after 6pm and can work with clients all over the world. Please contact me directly so that we can discuss your accessibility needs and plan the best location/platform.

About me and my therapy practice

I aim to create a safe space where I can meet you where you are and understand your current circumstances compassionately and free of judgement. We're all unique and different issues and priorities will require different approaches. Integrative therapy enables me to attend to the whole person, working through thoughts, emotions, behaviours, and physiological responses.

I also work collaboratively with clients and adapting my approach to your preferences and communication style. Drawing from a wide range of methods, including Existential, Psychodynamic, Transactional Analysis, CBT, Gestalt, Internal family systems and Solution-Focused Therapy, I will work with you to integrate the most helpful resources in aid of your wellbeing and self esteem, whether it is towards finding better coping mechanism, living free of depression, anxiety or addictions or achieving the acceptance or change they desire and deserve.

If you are looking for a therapist for your child (12+), I will first arrange an initial consultation (50 minutes) with the parent(s) before planning the next steps for the child or young person (under 16).

Practice description

Initial Consultation

During our initial Zoom meeting or call, I will ask some questions to understand what brings you to therapy and to assess if my approach suits your needs. This is also an opportunity for you to ask me questions about my background, education, and personal experiences, which I always welcome. Establishing safety and trust is vital for successful therapy.

Starting Therapy

If we decide to proceed with therapy, we will agree on a regular time slot and the location or platform for our sessions. I offer flexibility for shift workers and their family members whenever possible.

First Session

Our first session will be different from the others. I will ask detailed questions to understand your current circumstances and note important details. Sometimes, it is possible to determine the direction therapy should take during this session. However, in some cases, it may take a few more sessions to fully identify the primary focus and how to best work together. For example, we may need to address a particular behavior first before exploring the underlying factors contributing to it. This process varies from client to client.

Regular Check-Ins

Every six sessions, I check in with clients to evaluate how therapy is progressing. This is an opportunity to step back from the usual therapy rhythm, gather feedback, and plan ahead. We will discuss what is and isn't helping and determine the number of additional sessions needed or other goals to work towards.

Planning Endings

Whenever possible, it helps to plan the conclusion of therapy in advance. This allows us to prepare for the end of our sessions and fully integrate the insights and learning achieved during therapy.

My first session

I offer a free initial 15 minute Zoom meeting/phone call and then all other sessions are 50 minutes and start at £45.
