About me and my therapy practice
I am a registered member of the BACP and a qualified Counsellor. My training also includes: working with Bereavement, CBT, Eating Disorders, Neuroscience & Attachments, and Suicide. I works with clients, who want to see me for either short-term or open-ended therapy. I also have experience working short-term within the NHS Talking Therapies Service.
I provide a safe and holding space for my clients to explore their issues by sharing their personal thoughts and feelings within a confidential space. I believe it’s important for the client and therapist to co-create the therapeutic relationship, as I feel the relationship is important to establish, so the therapy experience can be meaningful and impactful upon a client’s life.
I use various models within my approach as an Integrative Counsellor. These include Person Centred, whereby the therapist builds a rapport by listening to and empathising with the clients’ issues during the sessions. I draw upon the Gestalt approach which works very much in the here and now, to explore a healthy relationship with the self and environment. I also explore early childhood attachments styles and how they impact upon adult relationships which is known as the psychodynamic approach to therapy.
I was originally interested in acting but moved into producing short films and comedy after training. Although I enjoyed working within the industry, I wanted to explore new avenues. During this time, I went into personal therapy and became interested in men’s mental health and then decided to train as a therapist. I am interested in working with anxiety, binge/compulsive eating, depression, relationships, stress, trauma including survivors of sexual abuse. I also work within the LGBTQIA+ community.
