About me and my therapy practice

I work as an integrated Psychotherapist in which my training and life experience come together to assist my clients in tackling the feelings and emotions which can have a negative impact on their lives.

The existential approach I use assists my clients in understanding and dealing with life issues which have an impact on their emotional world and ultimately their mental and physical health. The application of CBT assists my clients in dealing practically with disruptive feelings of, for example, anxiety, panic and lack of confidence. My use of psychodynamic theory permits further exploration of feelings resulting from formative life experiences which can impact on current emotional wellbeing.

My therapeutic approach is tailored to each individual reflecting their needs based on their unique experiences and personal, social and cultural interactions in our lives. I therefore arrange the number of sessions that a client may need with them at the outset, with the possibility of varying this as we proceed. I encourage feedback from my clients as therapy progresses to assist me in best responding to their needs.

I can help you tackle troubling  psychological issues, in complete confidence, without judgement and with the aim of helping you to lead a happier and more fulfilled life

develop the strength and resilience you may need in dealing with difficult issues that are impacting your life

support you in times of loss or change in your life circumstances and in taking up and adapting to new opportunities in your life.

My specialist area of interest is helping clients with physical illness and disability.  Together we can explore the impact of life stress on both your physical and mental health

Examine the relationship between the social and psychological facets of life that can impact  health

Look at new or different coping strategies which can promote an overall improvement in general well-being and happiness, and which will have a positive effect on the illness or disability.

Practice description

I work in an empathic, non-judgemental and open yet respectful manner.  I work within the BACP's ethical and confidentiality framework.   I am boundaried around timekeeping and appointment length.  I will reserve the same mutually convenient time for you each week and as I appreciate many clients have busy schedules I will do my best to accommodate any appointment changes within the agreed cancellation notice policy to allow weekly continuity.

How to get in touch

E mail me to arrange an introductory session to see how I can help you and how we can work together.

Costs

My hourly rates are from £70 for a 50-minute weekly session usually at the same day and time.

(Concessions may be available for students unwaged and low-income clients)

To create a unique tailored approach to each individual and their specific needs,  I  will discuss the number of sessions that a client may need with them at the outset, with the possibility of varying this as we proceed. I encourage feedback from my clients as therapy progresses to assist me in best responding to their needs.

This maybe short term work (6-12 sessions)

Longer term (upwards of 12 sessions)

Open-ended (not fixed although a notice period to end is required)

My first session

As I appreciate many clients may be coming to therapy for the first time and don't know what to expect, I use our first session as an introduction and assessment.  We can discuss openly and honestly  what you may wish to explore in therapy,  what you hope to gain from therapy and how this can be accommodated.

It is an opportunity for you to ask questions about the work we will do and explore any concerns you may have.  We will get a good idea if we can work together in that session.  I will need you to give some basic details, contact information and sign a consent form prior to working together after our introductory session.
