About me and my therapy practice
Hello. I am Sam. Thank you for considering my profile.
I understand that it is sometimes difficult to take the first step, and you may be feeling nervous and apprehensive. You may feel like your thought processes are jumbled, you do not know where to start and it feels like your mind is on a spin cycle? This constant battle can feel exhausting and overwhelming.
My aim will be to help you feel comfortable. I will listen and provide a safe and confidential space for you to explore anything that may be confusing, painful, or uncomfortable. Being heard for the first time allows us to unload some of our burdens.
We will work together to help process your emotions, increase your confidence and self-esteem and find your own inner strength to move forwards in a way that is authentic to you.
I have experience of working with a wide range of issues including life transitions, relationship breakdowns, abuse, grief, depression, anxiety and anxiety related issues, work related stress
I work from an integrative framework, this allows me to tailor the therapy to your needs. All people are unique and different approaches help different people. I believe in tailoring my approach to you.
My background
I am a qualified psychotherapist/counsellor and work with adults age 17+. Alongside my private practice I work one day a week with the Sue Lambert charity counselling victims of abuse and sexual violence.I spent 2 years as a volunteer counsellor at Emerging Futures counselling clients in the recovery phase of drug and alcohol addiction.
Aside from counselling I write a monthly well-being column for a positive news website covering Norfolk and Suffolk. https://folkfeatures.co.uk
Previously I have worked as a qualified nurse for 27 years, I've seen first-hand the effects that emotional and traumatic life events can have on individuals. My professional and personal experiences naturally led me towards this profession.
