About me and my therapy practice

My name is Alex and I endeavour to provide you with a bit of time that is all about you. I will hold a safe space for your worries, doubts, your joys, and your sorrows. Anything you bring here is welcome and will be treated with respect and compassion in confidence.

I work with a variety of clients, but my main passions are work with late-diagnosed neurodivergent adults (self-diagnosed or awaiting assessment included) and people who want better relationships with themselves and with others.

I am also dedicated to work with people who want to make sense of their childhood adversities and figure out ways to understand their effect on the present relational patterns.

I experienced first hand the anguish and confusion when navigating this world as a neurodivergent woman. I know that feeling of trying to figure out the rules of the game while playing it. I also know what it’s like to feel confused and hurt in relationships that were meant to enrich and elevate. How frustrating it was to work twice as hard to get half as much!

You are not alone. You are not bad or broken. You are smarter than you think and stronger than you look. Let me show you.

Practice description

I work from my home practice in the picturesque North Downs. My counselling space is accessible though the bathroom isn't due to its small size.  On Fridays I offer walk-and-talk sessions outdoors.

I am an integrative counsellor and was trained in a range of theoretic approaches. I happily share psycho education with my clients so that they can walk out of therapy with tools they can use beyond our time together.

What To Expect

First contact

You did it! You’ve mustered the resources to make that phone call or to write that email. What happens next? I will get back to you as quickly as possible, usually within a couple of days and offer you date(s) and time(s) when I can see you. I usually see clients on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8:00 to 15:00. If the time slot works for you the next step is the assessment.

Assessment

Assessment serves the purpose of establishing whether we are a good fit to work together. This is different from therapy, and I will ask you some questions about your life and what you want from therapy. It is a good time for you to see for yourself whether you are happy to work with me or would prefer another therapist. In a similar vein I think that your needs are better met elsewhere I may suggest a suitable referral. I don’t charge for the assessment.

First session

Provided that we agreed to work together we will meet for our first session. This can be in person or online. The first part of the session is usually taken up by contracting. It’s an important element of our work together and I always encourage involvement and feedback at this early stage. This contracting is integral part of therapeutic relationship and helps keep everyone safe and happy. This session (and others) will be charged for. My fee is £45 per session with some concessions made available to students and key workers.
