About me and my therapy practice
All of us need a safe place where we can feel properly heard, valued, and free to express ourselves. I offer a warm, compassionate, and inclusive space for you to experience just that! Everyone is welcome here.
So…how can I help you?
I’m a person-centred therapist with a particular focus on ensuring that counselling is accessible for everyone who needs it.
My extensive experience (20+ years) in working with neurodiversity and disability strongly informs my practice, and my person-centred approach means that I place you and your experiences, feelings and goals at the centre of our work.
Practice description
Over the years I have worked with many diverse communication, cognitive and expressive needs and am confident in navigating this with you.
I work with all ages, from teenagers through adulthood.
Whether you’ve had therapy before or not, I aim to make sure you feel confident and secure in all we do together by building a secure relationship with you based in trust and empathy.
I believe that there is real potential for healing through genuine connections with others, and no matter what you are bringing with you to therapy, a safe place and a connection with someone who sees and believes in you will be our starting point.
My first session
Nervous about getting in touch?
It can be a bit daunting reaching out for the first time. Please feel free to contact me through text or email initially and ask any questions you might have.
Introductory phone call
I offer all potential new clients an introductory phone call so that we can find out a little bit about each other, including what you might want to bring to therapy and any access needs, and decide whether we might work well together. If it seems that we are a good fit, we can arrange an initial assessment session.
What happens at our first session?
A first session is where we will begin to talk about your therapy journey.
Clients usually give a more detailed picture of the issues or difficulties that they want to work on, and I will talk about some of the kinds of work that I do that can help. If we decide that we are going to begin sessions, we will work together to make our sessions safe and supportive by agreeing a therapy contract together. A therapy contract sets out all the practical details about your sessions.
My priority is ensuring you feel confident and secure about our sessions as we set off in our work together and these steps are important for you to ask any questions you might have.
