About me and my therapy practice

Hello, pleased to meet you. I'm Ellie, an MBACP Registered Member Psychotherapist.

My role is to provide a safe place and guidance to support you in your self-discovery, facilitating you in examining your life and making meaningful choices within it. I take an empathetic, person-centred approach, providing affirmation and non-judgement.

I support clients with a wide range of issues including feelings of stress or anxiety, intimacy issues, LGBTQ+ sexuality and gender questioning, relationship problems, grief, loss or bereavement, addiction and habits, trauma and post-traumatic stress, depression, low self-esteem, anger management, family struggles, ADHD, Autism, neurodivergence and insomnia.

I offer a wealth of opportunities for reflection in a confidential, mindful and objective environment. We will explore in a way which can lead to fresh perspectives and deeper understanding of yourself and your needs. You may come to counselling for support with anxiety or depression, to explore the past, or perhaps for an objective space to figure out what is happening for you.

Counselling is not about providing advice or solutions. It is to empower you to make your own choices and changes in your life.

Practice description

I am an integrative counsellor and I use a variety of models, in an intersectional feminist way, understanding that many of these were not created to support a diverse community, and have previously caused harm to marginalised people. Wherever I can in my practice I seek to continuously decolonise approaches to the therapy I offer you, and we will work as equals in the space.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • Level 5 Professional Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling
  • Level 4 Diploma in Counselling Skills and Theory
  • Level 3 Certificate in Hypnotherapy and Counselling Skills
  • Working with Trans and Gender Diverse Clients (Gendered Intelligence)
  • Creative Writing Therapeutic Practitioner (ZunTold)
  • BA Hons Drama
  • Chartered Communications Professional (CIM)

My profession is Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, MBACP.

I work in a pluralistic way, using a variety of therapeutic models. We can work together to incorporate specific modalities, and/or creative writing and journalling techniques to facilitate your individual journey.

My areas of specialism include LGBTQIA+ affirmative and creative writing therapies. Prior to becoming a counsellor I worked as a senior communications strategist in the City of London. I bring valuable experiences of writing, mentoring teams and individuals, and leading in corporate workplaces into the therapy and coaching I offer.

I also incorporate hypnotherapy into our work on request.

My first session

I offer a free initial call for 15-30 minutes to decide if we are a good match for counselling. From there, the first session and all subsequent sessions are chargeable and 50 minutes in length.

Additional information

  • Standard rate £60-75 per session for individual face to face or online counselling (50 minutes)
  • Limited concession rates are available on request

We will usually meet weekly at the same time and day, which can be agreed at the initial appointment.

I encourage all clients to keep regular attendance for the agreed programme of sessions to achieve an optimal outcome. No-shows are chargeable if they cannot be rearranged.

I work in-person, based in Bow, east London. I also work online or by telephone, UK-wide.

What to expect in your first session

Following the free initial call and contracting, we will arrange a time which is convenient for you, for weekly consecutive sessions.

If you attend online, I will send you a video call link. If you attend by telephone, I will call you at the agreed time for our session. For online and telephone appointments it is important that you are in a private space so that you cannot be heard.

If you attend in-person, I have a private, ground floor therapeutic space (the cabin) at my home in east London (E3). I will send you my full address with your contract after our initial call.
