About me and my therapy practice

Hello!

My name is Karen Yuen and I am an ACCPH accredited and BACP registered counsellor/therapist. I was born, grew up and am based in London, within a rich diverse community. I have a mixed heritage (East Asian) from Hong Kong, Vietnam and Myanmar, encompassing a perspective of different cultures and ways of seeing our inner and outer world. I offer counselling in English and conversational cantonese.

I have over 8 years of professional experience working within the NHS, community and spiritual settings.

I have been trained in an integrative therapeutic approach, incorporating person centred, cognitive, psychodynamic, spiritual and transcultural approaches. This allows me to adapt to the needs of the client and their therapeutic journey. The foundation of my approach is through trauma informed compassionate inquiry, intuition, genuineness, and empathy, to create an empathic, safe, and non-judgemental space.

Practice description

What I can help you with:

I offer an opportunity to explore personal difficulties in a confidential, non-judgemental and supportive environment. Sometimes it's helpful to speak to someone outside your personal circle. I am here to listen and understand you, create a space for you to be seen, heard and process what is going on for you.

This may include expressing feelings that are painful or confusing, and which many of us experience in our lives, which can make it difficult to cope with everyday life. You will be supported in understanding and articulating these feelings and emotions, and to understand and gain insight into your situation, to challenge unhelpful thought patterns and beliefs. This process can foster growth and lead to positive change in your life.

My intention is to help you have a healthier relationship with your thoughts, feelings and emotions, this will help your relationship with self, others and different experiences and situations you encounter in your daily life. I can help you better understand them, find out where they came from, explore them and have more harmony with them. Ultimately, becoming and feeling more whole as a human being.

I understand starting therapy can be quite scary and having to open up to a stranger, but you will be in control and go at your own pace during the sessions. You are not alone.

Online and phone counselling can help with a wide range of issues, I can help you with:

Anxiety

Bereavement, Grief, Loss
